Dot on Designs I paint mandalas on repurposed vinyl records, giving old music new life as vibrant, one-of-a-kind art. Dot On! The result was magical!

Designs – Handmade Dotted Vinyl Art

As a recent retiree, I was searching for a creative outlet and discovered the mesmerizing art of dotting—using carefully placed circles to create intricate mandalas. After experimenting on various surfaces like clay pots and trivets, I found my true passion when I dotted my first vinyl record. Each dotted record is a one-of-a-kind piece, created in the moment

without a preplanned design. I let the vinyl itself inspire me, pulling colors from the label and weaving in complementary hues to enhance the artwork. Sometimes, I even listen to the album while painting, letting the music guide my creativity. Beyond the handmade art, these vinyl designs connect music lovers to the past, blending nostalgic song titles with captivating visuals. They’re a unique way to celebrate both music and artistry, bringing new life to old records.

Inspired by Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by Eurythmics

Like ripples spreading across still water, this design pulls you in with layers of turquoise, aqua, cobalt blue, and metallic gold dancing across the black vinyl.

Featuring songs like Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), This Is the House, Somebody Told Me, and This City Never Sleeps, this album helped define the sound of the early '80s and launched Eurythmics onto the world stage. The title track became an international hit and remains one of the most recognizable synth-pop songs ever recorded.

The cool blues and teals create a calming, almost hypnotic effect, while touches of gold add warmth and movement throughout the piece. Whether you're a fan of the music, the era, or simply love bold color on black vinyl, this artwork makes a striking statement.

Some dreams are made of memories. This one just happens to look pretty amazing hanging on a wall.

I’m set up this weekend at the Clark County Art Show at the Christine Center in Willard, WI—and it’s my very first indoor show!

I’ve met so many wonderful people already and I’m really enjoying the whole experience. It’s been especially fun hearing everyone’s reactions… people are completely mesmerized by the symmetry of my mandalas and can’t believe the level of precision—especially when they find out there’s no template involved.

I always laugh and tell them… I just start in the center and work my way out. And when I’m finished, I kind of step back and say, “Oh… is THAT what it was supposed to look like?!?”

If you’re in the area, the show runs from 9–5 today and tomorrow. Come wander through—there are multiple artists here and it’s a great way to spend a few hours.

There’s something pretty special about watching people connect the dots between music, memory, and art right in front of you—that’s the part I love most.

Inspired by Bon Iver, Bon Iver by Bon Iver

This piece has such a rich, moody feel to it—deep reds, earthy greens, warm metallics, and soft mint accents all pulled together into a layered mandala design that feels as soulful as the album itself.

Released in 2011, Bon Iver, Bon Iver won two Grammy Awards and helped turn Justin Vernon from indie favorite into a household name.

Some albums just feel like art before the needle even drops… this one gave me plenty to work with.

A little personal share today…

My husband and I are selling our cabin in St. Germain. We’ve owned it since 2018, and it’s been such a special place for us—full of Northwoods charm, quiet moments, and so many great memories.

With everything going on in our lives, managing it as a rental has become more than we can take on, so it’s time to pass it along to someone new.

If you—or someone you know—has been dreaming of a Northwoods escape, take a look at the details below.

Inspired by The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd

This one is pure color explosion. Bright neon oranges, yellows, blues, purples, and greens radiate off the record in a bold mandala design that felt like the perfect match for this legendary album.

Released in 1973, The Dark Side of the Moon became one of the best-selling albums ever and spent over 900 weeks on the Billboard charts—an almost unbelievable run.

A fun, vibrant piece for the Pink Floyd fan who wants their music on the wall, not just in the speakers.

I wanted to share a quick update…

I found out that I wasn’t juried into the Madison Art on the Square show this coming July.

Of course, I’m disappointed. I had the opportunity to participate once before and really enjoyed the experience.

But I’ve come to believe that things have a way of unfolding exactly as they’re meant to.

This season of life has been a full one for us, and while this wasn’t the outcome I had hoped for, it’s also given me something unexpected… a little more time and space to focus on what matters most right now, and to pour energy into other events and opportunities ahead.

Sometimes what feels like a setback is really just a quiet redirection.

Thank you, as always, for being here and supporting me and my work—it truly means more than you know.

Note: Just to be transparent—the image here is an AI-created visual to reflect the spirit of my work. Every piece I offer is still completely hand-painted, one record at a time.

Available – Grateful Dead – Touch of Grey

This one’s a little different…

It’s a 45—a single—something I don’t come across very often, which made this piece even more special to create.

Featuring Touch of Grey, this was the song that brought the Grateful Dead into the mainstream in a whole new way. It became their biggest hit and introduced them to an entirely new audience.

So how did this become a 45? Back in the day, record companies would press popular songs as singles on smaller 7-inch records that played at 45 RPM—made for radio play, jukeboxes, and easy listening without needing the full album. This one would have been spun over and over… and you can almost feel that history in it.

The colors came straight from that Arista label—those soft pinks, purples, and blues—and I built the design outward to keep that same laid-back, flowing vibe the song carries.

A small record… with a big story behind it.

A single moment in music, turned into something that lasts.

Updated with framed image.

Available – Eagles – Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)

This one doesn’t need much introduction… you see the label, and you already know every song.

Featuring Take It Easy, Witchy Woman, Lyin’ Eyes, Already Gone, and Desperado, this is one of those records that feels like a greatest hits soundtrack to a time and place.

The colors came straight from that iconic blue label—cool tones layered with soft neutrals—building outward in a rhythm that feels easy and familiar, just like the music.

Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) went on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time, spending years on the charts and earning its place in just about every record collection.

If this album ever played in your home, your car, or somewhere in between… this piece brings it all back.

Easy listening, timeless sound… and a record that never really left.

Available – Kansas – Leftoverture

This one has that instant recognition… you see the label, and the music just starts playing in your head.

Featuring Carry On Wayward Son, The Wall, What’s On My Mind, and Miracles Out of Nowhere, this album is one of those that defined a sound and still holds up every time you hear it.

The colors came straight from that Kirshner label—those bold bands of yellow, orange, red, and blue—and I let them lead the design, building outward with movement that feels just as dynamic as the music itself.

Carry On Wayward Son became Kansas’ breakthrough hit and is still one of the most recognized classic rock songs today, keeping this album firmly in rotation for generations of listeners.

If this record ever found its way onto your turntable, this piece has a way of bringing it right back.

Bold, vibrant… and meant to be played again and again.
