Some scrunchies I made recently. These were for a lovely Tūrangi lady who had offcuts from well loved clothes she wanted to upcycle. They turned out great! Especially the leather one which looked amazing!

Spring is here and everything is growing and blooming in Tūrangi. It's so lovely to see daffodils, camelias and crocuses flowering. Daylight saving is just around the corner 🙂

Here's a photos of some cushions I made a while ago. The Japanese fabric feels like spring to me! They are for sale at the fabulous Pihanga Gallery.

So the fantastic local arts society I belong to is having an exhibition! It's at Taupō museum and the theme is 'inclusive.' Because art and art groups should be a space for everyone 🙂

They'll be something for everyone - embroidery, quilting, spinning, and weaving, knitting and crochet,mixed media, painting and pottery.

My awesome local arts society is having an exhibition at Taupo Museum. If you're around, pop in and have a look at all the fantastic creative talent we have in Tūrangi 🖌️

There's going to be a group exhibit too. Everyone was given a canvas to do whatever they wanted with. I did a shibori dyed moon, an embroidered bird and hills made from paper and fabric. Mixed media! It was so much fun to do!

It's been a long, cold winter. It always is...

But spring is around the corner. Daffodils are popping up and the days are getting longer.

I'm part of the fantastic Pihanga Gallery, a beautiful space for art in Tūrangi. One of our artists died recently.

We had a memorial at the weekend to celebrate her life. Her daughter has lots of her little paintings, and she gave them to anyone that came along. What a beautiful way to remember her. Thank you Norma and family.

Dyeing with logwood.....part 2!

Logwood is from the Haematoxylum campechianum tree which grows in Mexico and South America.

I got braver and simmered the fabric in the dye vat for an hour. Happily the silk coped with that really well and still has it's luxurious, shiny sheen!
