蝶蒔絵大鼓

胴一面に舞う蝶の蒔絵が施された華やかな鼓。優美な意匠は、和楽器としての道具でありながら、一つの工芸作品としても魅力があります。
寸法からすると大鼓に分類されるものと思われ、存在感のある姿が目を引きます。実際に和楽器としての需要もございますが、本品はまずその意匠の美しさに惹かれ仕入れたもので、落としを入れて花器として見立てるのも良いかと思います。
鼓皮は外しておりますが、組まれたままの状態で入手しておりますのでそのままお付けします。擦れた剥げ、細かな傷、汚れなど時代相応の経年変化がございますので画像にてご確認ください。長い年月を経た漆芸品ならではの風合いと、蝶が舞う軽やかで雅な意匠が印象的な品。江戸時代。

An elegant Japanese drum decorated with butterfly maki-e lacquer work across the entire body. While originally a musical instrument, its refined design also makes it an attractive decorative art piece.
Based on its dimensions, it is believed to be an otsuzumi (shoulder drum). The drumheads have been removed, but the original cords are included. With an insert, it could also be displayed as a unique flower vase.
Showing age-appropriate wear, including minor losses to the lacquer, scratches, and surface stains. A charming Edo-period lacquerware piece featuring graceful butterflies in flight.

小さな金銅華鬘

小ぶりながら見応えのある金銅華鬘です。全体にしっかりとした厚みを持って作られており、繊細な文様も丁寧に表現されています。なかでも特筆すべきは鍍金の残りの良さでしょう。長い年月を経た現在でも美しい金色の輝きを留めており、華鬘本来の荘厳な趣を十分に感じることができます。
表面には魚子地を施し、さらに蹴彫によって文様が細やかに刻まれています。小さな作品でありながら手間を惜しまず仕上げられており、当時の職人の高い技術がうかがえます。
時代相応の経年変化は見られますが、保存状態は良好です。江戸時代の仏教美術らしい端正な作行きを備えた一品で、小品ながらも存在感のある魅力的な華鬘といえるでしょう。

五尊石仏（郡山城石垣）拓本

郡山城の起源は、平安時代に郡山衆によって築かれたと伝わる「雁陣之城」に遡ります。戦国時代になると、豊臣秀吉の実弟である秀長が天正13年（1585）に大和・和泉・紀伊三国100万石の太守として入城し、大規模な城郭整備を進めました。その際、城下周辺には十分な石材が乏しかったため、石仏や礎石、石塔、石臼など、さまざまな石造物が石垣材として集められたことが知られています。本拓本に写し取られた石仏もその一つで、奈良市の頭塔から運ばれた奈良時代の石仏であると考えられています。
この石仏は現在、郡山城天守郭南東に位置する台所櫓跡の石垣隅石下方に組み込まれており、堀の水面近くという極めて見えにくい場所にあります。そのため現地で確認することは容易ではなく、存在そのものを知らない方も少なくありません。私自身も、この拓本によって初めてその姿を知ったほどです。

銅造聖観音菩薩立像

台座まで一鋳造で成された銅造聖観音菩薩像。厨子に納める際には、木彫の磐座内部を刳り抜くことで、像の台座がすっきりと収まるよう設えられています。もとは光背も備えていたと思われますが、こちらは残念ながら失われています。厨子、木製台座、光背は、いずれも後補で、江戸時代頃のもの。個人的には、厨子、台座から外して飾るのが良いかと思います。
やや大ぶりの頭部に、量感豊かな堂々とした体躯。そうした造形には、中世仏ならではの力強さと落ち着きがよく表れています。表面は全体に黒く煤けており、あるいは火難を経た可能性も考えられますが、顔立ちは十分にうかがえ、むしろ長い歳月を経た銅製仏像ならではの柔らかな肌合いが魅力となっています。状態も総じて悪い印象はございません。
制作は鎌倉時代末〜室町時代頃と推測します。

Bronze Standing Sho-Kannon Bosatsu
A cast-bronze Sho-Kannon Bosatsu statue made in one piece including the pedestal. Larger than most small bronze Buddhist figures, it is housed in a shrine cabinet fitted with a carved wooden base. The halo is now missing. The shrine, wooden stand, and halo were likely added in the Edo period. The statue may also be displayed separately from the shrine.
With its slightly large head and solid, well-balanced proportions, the figure conveys the strength and calm presence of medieval Buddhist sculpture. The surface has darkened with age, possibly from exposure to fire, yet the expression remains clear and the overall condition is pleasing.
Estimated date: late Kamakura to Muromachi period.

如意輪観音が指先で支えていたと考えられる法輪（輪宝）です。如意輪観音は六臂のお姿のうち、右第二手に如意宝珠、左第三手に法輪を執ることからその名で呼ばれ、本品もその法輪にあたるものと思われます。
一見すると、表面にわずかに残る下地の痕跡から近世の作行きを想起させますが、長い歳月を経て枯れた木肌の風合い、緻密な木目、そして手取りの古雅さ、鋭い彫り口には、中世仏の一部に通じる趣が感じられます。もっとも、法輪そのものではなく、荘厳具など装飾部材の一部であった可能性も残りますので、その点は予めご承知おきください。
小品ながら、失われた尊容を静かに想像させる、見どころの多い残欠です。

Wooden Dharma Wheel Fragment
This is a Dharma Wheel (Rinbō) believed to have originally been supported by the fingertips of Nyoirin Kannon. Nyoirin Kannon derives its name from the attributes held in its six-armed form: the second right hand holds the wish-fulfilling jewel (Nyoi Hōju), while the third left hand holds the Dharma Wheel, and this piece is thought to correspond to that wheel.
At first glance, traces of the ground layer remaining on the surface may suggest workmanship from the early modern period. However, the weathered texture developed through long passage of time, the finely grained wood, the dignified quality in hand, and the sharp carving style all evoke characteristics found in certain medieval Buddhist sculptures.
That said, there remains the possibility that this was not originally a Dharma Wheel itself, but rather part of a decorative element or ritual ornamentation, and this should be taken into consideration.
Though small in scale, this fragment offers many points of interest and quietly invites the viewer to imagine the lost form of the original deity.
