Our studio❤️... where we gather everyday to practice our beloved craft!

Back in 2023 we did our first shallow funicular domes for a residence in Indore. A traditional type of these domes are popularly called 'Rohtak domes' in India. I was first introduced to the concept of these flat domes by Prof. Anil Laul and his practices back in 2014. A lot of students and professionals had turned up to see this unique technique in play. Master masons and Anand bhai explained visitors how it works in principle. After this we were able to adopt and implement this technique in various projects across geographies. Apart from their obviously unique aesthetics, they are also a very sustainable roofing system unlike their otherwise conventional counterpart RCC slabs. Relative to RCC it only has about 40% of the carbon footprint. And it's porous exposed surface plus thermal massing further add to other benefits like breathability of the structure itself and thermal comfort due to it's massing. One can reduce this carbon footprint further by using CSEB instead of kiln fired bricks, which BTW we are currently doing in our more recent projects. stay tuned!
