Playing around with some "gel sticks" a friend gave me. They were kind of like crayons, but buttery, almost wet like? I was playing around with several little sketches. Wasn't sure what to do with them. Then at one point I experimented with just going thick and use them kind of like oil pastel. They are interesting. Some are totally opaque. Some are completely translucent. Sone build up similar to oil sticks or paint. Some just stayed thin like watercolor no matter how much pressure I applied. Next time I'm going to play with them like watercolor. I'm intrigued. Meanwhile... its 2am. WHEN did that happen?? Swear it was 9pm last time I looked!

Inktober 2025, DAY 16, Prompt: "Blunder". Almost forgot! But remembered just in tine to whip this days drawibg out. "Blunder". The blunder of breaking my favorite paint water dish. I've had it with me for decades. Before marriage. All the moves. All the life. And a few months ago it just cracked in half. But I still keep it because I can't let it go. ♡

I blinked and missed like 10 days of Inktober ( she says every.single.year...).

Inktober 2025, DAY 14 prompt: "Trunk".

Those who know me, know I actually have a small obsession with trunks. I personally own trunks of various sizes from large furniture pieces, to Itty bitty tiny trunks that can barely hold earrings. I mostly have wooden trunks, but also metal trunks. Plastic utility trunks. I have new trunks and very old trunks. I have flat topped trunks and rounded piratey style trunks. I store anything from clothes and camping gear, tools, makeup, jewelry, art supplies, essential oils, perfumes, puzzles, blankets, books, photographs. excercise equipment in various trunks. I've bought trunks. Been gifted trunks. Pulled trunks off the side of the road. (Yes, that was me in your trash). Trunks hold history, possibility, and mystery. And they hide yer mess and make ya look all pulled together. So there's that.

Inktober 2025, DAY 3, Prompt: Crown.

Im not the girly blingy tiara cringe kinda girl. But if I did have a crown, it would be more of a combination of metal, stone, wood, with a helmet-like design referencing wolves and maybe giving Amazon Queen vibes. 😁 Unfortunately, I didn't plan out the nose well enough, and between the nose and the cheek guards unintentionally implying wings... my wolf is now coming across as bat. 😆

Inktober 2025, DAY 2, Prompt: Weave. Im going to try really hard to not only actually FINISH Inktober this year (that would be a first- often i only do a few days and have never done all 31 days. Ugg.), but also to try to make every Prompt personal.

So for the "weave" Prompt, I chose one of my flow ropes. This was my first rope. I took up the hobby "flow rope" end of 2023 (I think).

If you are not familiar with flow rope, lok it up! Its a fun meditative, dance like hobby that is actually really good for the brain and for joint mobility.

Almost forgot already. INKTOBER, DAY 1: Prompt "Mustache". I have a lot of Mustache associations from childhood to current day. From my dad, family, childhood crushes, memories of my mother's crush Tom Selleck (The King of Handsome Mustaches), to my husband who has had a Mustache from the day I met him to 99.9999% of our marriage. I love a manly 'stach♡

More color mixing practice while also playing with watercolors, gouache, and I also really wanted to paint some of the gorgeous moss covered forest tree trunks from a trip I took in May. Never seen moss like that. Not only did it grow in a THICK carpet-like mass that completely covered the bark... but the moss pieces were like thick ropes of fern'y silvery-green-but also-kinda-pastel moss. (I had trouble finding the right color mix to nail it down. But I will try again later 😆) I totally overworked it because I kept adding layers and layers to figure out the moss color, but it was just a sketchbook practice session, and thats what sketchbooks are for!
