The Haddenham Arts Centre Under 5’s group will be continuing from September! This group is aimed primarily at children age 2-5 years old (younger siblings are always welcome too) and aims to develop those preschool skills that will help young children when they reach school age. Every week we practise our listening skills with a range of movement based, adult lead activities and stories. We develop our gross and fine motor control by dancing and engaging with simple craft activities. We sing together, enjoy snack together and play together to enhance our confidence and social skills. We also just have a really fun time!
So if you are looking for a fun activity every other Friday morning, and possibly a nice place to have your lunch afterwards (Start Tearooms offer a delicious range of lunches, cakes, teas and coffees) why not come along and join us? The first weeks craft activities will be based on the story ‘The Dot’ by Peter H Reynolds.

Wow it’s September already! Where has the summer gone? The autumn the perfect time to take up a cosy new hobby like crochet. Just enough time to learn how to make some beautiful handmade Christmas presents.
If you have never tried crochet before, the Absolute Beginners Crochet Workshop is the perfect place to start. In this relaxed and informal workshop everyone starts at the same point and then works at their own pace to master the basics. It will take place on Sunday 13th September from 11am-2pm. £30 per person.
If you are a little more experienced and are looking for a project to take you into the cooler autumn weather, then why not have a go at making your own hexagon cardigan? This workshop will teach you how to crochet the granny hexagon shape, how to join the pieces together and how to create a crochet as you go ribbing. This workshop takes place on Sunday 27th September 11am-3pm. £40 if you are providing your own yarn for your project and £60 of yarn is provided for you.

Upcoming crochet workshops at the Haddenham Arts Centre between September and Christmas. There are 2 more Absolute Beginners Workshops, 13th September and 22nd November. The perfect time of year to learn a new skill and create some cosy items ready for the winter or some unique Christmas gifts!
Speaking of cosy items, if you already know the basics of how to crochet (literally if you can make basic crochet stitches you can do this one) why not join us to learn how to make a hexagon cardigan. We will be learning how to make 2 cardigan stitch styles, how to join the pieces together and how to create crocheted ribbing.
On 11th October we will be making Crocheted mug warmers and matching coasters. We will be working in Autumn colours on the day but the pattern can be easily adapted when you take it away to create festive gifts for friends and family.
On 20th December why not treat yourself to a relaxing few hours making a crocheted beanie hat in the midst of all the Christmas chaos.

I switched up the crafting a bit over the weekend and upcycled a dresser we bought off eBay (it absolutely hasn’t been waiting for nearly 3 years for its glow up) and a mini table I found in the charity shop. Neither would pass serious scrutiny but I’m pleased with the results. Right what can I paint next? 🤔🫟🤔
