Did you know you can make custom wallpaper murals?!

A little taste of Portugal in Barrhaven šŸ’›šŸ§

In Jan 2024, the amazing bakery Anabia Cupcakes, next to the paint store I work at, approached me with a fun idea, adding a custom 16ā€™ x 11.5ā€™ mural of Portugal to their seating area.

Swipe through the photos to see the final results, the original stock photo I started with, the changes I made in Adobe Photoshop (circled in red), and photos from my many visits to Anabia (you have to try their breakfast BELT and grilled cheese sandwiches! And go to the open mic nights!)

Summerā€™s not over yet! šŸ“

And a reminder to reduce, reuse and recycle! Our neighbour was getting rid of these two wooden adirondack chairs in 2019. We took them from the end of his yard, glued the arms that were splitting, fixed the angle of the back, sanded, primed and painted them blue.

Now flash forward to last summer, June 2025, we got a new front door and decided it was time to refresh the chairs. I sanded where the paint was chipping a bit. Primed with a tinted primer and painted the chairs Million Dollar Red 2003-10.

My first big purchases I saved for when I started working were my laptop and DSLR. Since I bought my camera in Feb 2018, Iā€™ve bought more lenses, tripods, bags and accessories but the main camera is still perfect. I love the rotating viewing screen and built in wifi to access my photos on the go and share with friends.

Along with design and photography, my other love is dogs! My family and I have been fostering and volunteering with Freedom Dog Rescue since 2020. Itā€™s been such a rewarding and amazing experience that I would definitely recommend.

These photos are from a puppuccino photoshoot I photographed in May 2024. The stand and beautiful backdrop were made by the multi-talented Sissi, whip cream and cups were provided by Starbucks and the pups who came were local supporters of the rescue who came to get their photos taken.

Dark Harbor CSP-720šŸ’™

March 2023, powder room glow up, from basic ā€œgr-eigeā€, to a fun blue-teal. While we were getting the laundry room and powder room tiled, I thought it made sense to redo the rest of the bathroom. Small spaces like powder rooms and home offices are great for bold design choices: fun paint, wallpaper, decor, etc.

Every space in the home deserve some love šŸ’š

I did a small makeover to our basement home gym area in Jan 2024. The accent wall is Benjamin Moore, Boreal Forest AF-480 in Regal Matte.

I thought the dark green would be a nice choice because it symbolizes nature and being outdoors, which I feel goes well with being active. And who doesnā€™t love a forest green!

Throw back to the first big diy reno my dad and I took on! Fall/winter 2021, while my sister was out of town at Humber, we thought itā€™d be a good time to reno the main bathroom.

Iā€™m very proud with how it all turned out, especially given it was our first time tiling a shower. We took the bathroom from 1984-the 2020s. We did the demo, wall repairs and painting, levelled the subfloor, installed flooring, insulated the walls, waterproofed and tiled the shower, installed a new toilet, vanity and fixtures. My jobs were the design, material selection and procurement, installing the LVT, and cutting the tiles for my dad to install.

After working more in different industries, thereā€™s a few things Iā€™d do differently next time but overall Iā€™m very happy with how it all turned out!

A bit of the design process planning out some custom built-ins around our fireplace. Lots of measuring and double checking, choosing materials, finishes and hardware.

For the built-ins, we chose the Lichfield (thin shaker) door style in Portland with black k***s for a clean simple look. For the mantel and shelves we liked Birch in the colour Biscotti with HanStone Montaux quartz counters.

The daunting task of picking between hundreds of off-whites šŸ¤

Working at a paint store means finding new rooms to paint at home every year. I decided to repaint the main colour White Dove after designing some custom built-ins for beside the fireplace.

My top choices for this project were Benjamin Mooreā€™s White Dove, Dove Wing and Cloud Cover. I painted the samples on white poster board, and compared them in various lighting:
1st picture is the board in natural light
2nd, the paint swatches
3rd, on the wall with direct light
4th, on the wall in shade
6-7th, painting in progress (the fireplace wall and going up the stairs havenā€™t been painted yet. Theyā€™re the original colour, Shoreline)
