I am intentionally dating myself for the first time in my life. And let me tell you, it has its challenges, but it has also been the most transformative time in my life. I am a relationship person - to the bone. Don’t get me wrong, I love my alone time and I need a lot of it. I’m someone who is the independent-type and has carved their own path. But I love being in relationship. I miss how it feels - to have someone close, to feel a sense of belonging, but I’m also really at peace with being single. I have experienced missing someone to tears while being grateful they are no longer in my life. I have been lonely while feeling happy to have alone time. I have missed cuddling and kissing and s*x while also experiencing the most transformative love I’ve ever known - a deepening of love for myself in a way that I wouldn’t have been able to dive into in relationship. I thought I loved myself, truly. I really did. And a part of me did, but my inner-child, a young girl with a big heart who was taught that she wasn’t enough was hurting. She tolerated emotionally unavailable/distant men. She only came out when provoked, and relationships certainly provoke some deeply wounded areas that maybe haven’t surfaced in years. I am loving the me of the past, telling her that I am here to protect her and understand her in a way that no one else can - to love her unconditionally. This is the greatest love I can ever know - to love myself - the most important and unconditional love I will ever experience. ✨ Happy Valentine’s Day 💗p.s. Whether you’re single or in a relationship, perhaps take some time to do something just for you tomorrow (or any day really) to connect to your most important relationship.
