Designing for the modern workplace, and the people who will power what’s next.

Ohio Valley Electrical Services, Inc. officially broke ground at the site of their new headquarters, designed by BHDP in partnership with Miller Valentine Construction. The 70,000-SF facility will serve as a modern, consolidated workplace for the company, providing space for its 200+ employees.

Greenfield expansion provides owners with the freedom of a clean slate, but it can create a dangerous assumption: if the site is large enough, the details can be worked out later.

The primary risk is not beginning with the wrong drawing, but committing to a piece of land before the organization has defined what the land must do. When a project begins with a basis plan, this risk for issues down the road is diminished.

Creating calm and functional environments for patients and staff.

BHDP worked with Wake Radiology at UNC Health Rex to expand their imaging capabilities at the Panther Creek Location. The 1,036 SF design encompassed a new MRI room, equipment room, control room, and C-arm room. To elevate the patient experience, the team incorporated a signature ceiling design featuring a skylight fixture that projects calming imagery. Staff circulation was thoughtfully planned to support efficient and uninterrupted workflows.

The result delivers a welcoming environment for patients and an environment where staff can work with confidence. The design successfully maximized storage space while maintaining a functional atmosphere that meets the demands of modern imaging care.

Today’s students are studying, socializing, and connecting in ways that blur the lines between eating and everything else happening on campus. Designing dining spaces with flexible seating, varied environments, and a strong sense of identity can turn a meal into a reason to stay.

HCA Healthcare's Clinical Center for Advancement (CCA) creates a dedicated home for the continued growth and development of working nurses in Kansas City.

As part of a shared three-story building with the Research College of Nursing, the 82,412 SF center includes a skills lab, three classrooms, offices, a break area, and shared access to a technology-rich simulation suite. Designed specifically for experienced practitioners, the space supports nurses as they expand their skills and transition into new clinical roles across HCA facilities.

From flexible lounge configurations and wellness rooms to realistic clinical training environments, the CCA reflects an investment in the people behind healthcare—and the communities they serve.

A lab budget is only as good as the questions asked before it's set.
