【Residential Project | Single Storey House Renovation】
▪ 1 Master Bedroom
▪ 1 Walk-in Wardrobe Room
▪ 1 Studio / Working Space
Bedroom,
——
【Dining Before Living】

【Interior Style & Material Palette】

【Residential Project | Single Storey House Renovation】
This project transforms a single-storey house that had been left vacant for over 20 years.
The original unit remained largely untouched structurally. During the developer’s early planning stage, the original car porch columns were removed to create a wider parking area capable of accommodating two vehicles.
This renovation was not simply about upgrading an old house —
it was about redefining how the family lives, gathers, and adapts in the future.
——
【3 Rooms Reimagined】
The original three-room layout was redesigned according to the homeowner’s lifestyle:
▪ 1 Master Bedroom
▪ 1 Walk-in Wardrobe Room
▪ 1 Studio / Working Space
Rather than creating rigidly defined rooms, the design focuses on flexibility and future adaptability.
The wardrobe area avoids permanent wall-drilled cabinetry. Instead, movable wood-grain wardrobe systems with black structural supports were selected, allowing the space to be easily reconfigured in the future.
Should elderly family members move in later, the room can effortlessly transform into another bedroom with flexible furniture placement and spatial planning.
The design philosophy is simple:
spaces should evolve together with the family’s future needs.
——
【Dining Before Living】
Unlike a conventional home layout, entering the house does not immediately reveal the living room —
instead, the dining area becomes the heart of the home.
While dining spaces are often considered secondary, the homeowner places strong importance on family gatherings, discussions, and shared daily interactions.
As a result, the dining area functions as a flexible communal hub, complete with a TV setup for meetings, conversations, meals, and everyday connection.
In contrast, the living room is viewed more as a personal interest space — a place for entertainment and movie watching.
It is considered a “need,” but not necessarily the emotional center of the home.
This spatial hierarchy reflects the family’s strong emphasis on togetherness and communication.
——
【Interior Style & Material Palette】
The overall design embraces a Warm Minimalist aesthetic infused with Contemporary Japanese Modern influences.
Through the use of:
▪ Natural wood textures
▪ Warm neutral tones
▪ Soft ambient lighting
▪ Clean lines and concealed storage
the interior creates a calm, timeless, and welcoming atmosphere.
Warm beige wall tones were carefully selected to complement the wood materials while softening natural light throughout the space.
This palette enhances spaciousness while giving the old house a refreshed, modern, and livable identity.
——
Good interior design is not only about aesthetics —
it is about shaping a space that truly supports the way people live, both now and in the future.
