It's always a blessing to have a relative reach out and ask for a custom order β€οΈ
This time around- we were asked to make an advent calendar. The brief: make it Christmas, ensure that the pockets can be used to hold small countdown gifts and to use imagination... ππ‘
The embroidery machine decided that it did not feel like participating, ergo numbers were stenciled out and hand cut. Then, came the idea to make the pockets Christmas lights, so the lights were the designed and cut out π‘βοΈ
The pockets were then cut out and the lights were stuck onto the pockets. The tops of the lights were also cut out and three rows of rhinestones were individually stuck onto the top of every light ππ
Wool was stung between the tops of the lights to make the image of the lights come to life. After attempting to hand stitch the pockets, a decision was made for Mom to help with the sewing of the pockets onto the background, which had been fashioned into a Christmas tree πͺ‘π§΅
Next was to create the background and to mount the tree onto it. The tree needed extra pizzazz, which was when individual rhinestones were stuck amongst the green of the tree to catch the light ππ
To top the tree, a treetopper was designed to work with the space left over, onto which further rhinestones were added ππ
We created a loop in the top of the background fabric to be used for the dowel stick. Half moons were cut out of the loop, for the crocheted chain to be strung around the dowel, so that the calendar could be hung up π

The final touches were added- the Family name was stenciled, hand cut and stuck onto the background to personalize the calendar π¨βπ©βπ¦βπ¦β€οΈ
