But here and there I used to buy it only to realise that haichanaka seyekudhara...its was when i got to Bangladesh I realised that their cerelac was still the same as ours yekuma80s, haaa apa kuhotel kwaiservvwa spicy food, ndakaidyawo sei cerelac, but then I gained weight, kuita mombe chaiyo, ndipo pakazopera hukama necerelac. My current toddler refused cerelac completely, ndakangoti Mwari kudzwai, inga miyedzo yanga ichazondibata, ndopandakawona kuti God works in his own ways kukatanura vanhu vake out of all troubles. As we welcomed the new year, I was happy to make a dish that reminds us of our four year stay in Bangladesh, Biryani. Growing up in Zimbabwe, my mother loathed spices. I never liked food with herbs and spices, it felt like eating perfumed food, however travelling around gives you a new dimension to how you view food.

The first time I ate it at a restaurant, I never liked it, however the more I realised that Biryani was the staple of all celebrations in Bangladesh, I got to love it. I also had the opportunity to visit workmates' houses, and learn from them how to make it. With my own tweaks to the spices, I now have my own version that meets the my African palate. As they say in Bangladesh, cooking for celebrations is a labour of love, Biryani is a rich dish with aromatic spices and a myriad of ingredients so you need time to ensure a perfect dish. At least at my house yesterday, the Biryani went down quickly, it was a hit! Thank you Lord for the new year. Compliments of the season everyone!

Yesterday my high-school friend visited us. We enjoyed our classic haifiridzi and chicken feet together. This girl is called Patricia E. Maphosa, now she's Mrs Chivovo. Guess what, we had two girls with the same name, Patricia Maphosa. Good thing, Mrs Chivovo had a second name so we called her by her second name Ettah. And these ladies had lots in common between them, and one of the common traits between them was their mothers' first names! What a coincidence! Anyway zvema history kure uko,Hameno hake Ettah acharohwa namai vake nenhau yekukwata🤣😂
