A celebration of beauty across the African continent, Scatterings of Africa began as collaboration between two impulsive humans from Kokstad KwaZulu-Natal in December 2022.
One is a renown artist namely Helen Treweek and is commonly seen barefoot in most public places AKA "The Ultimate Mud Chick". She has created beautiful art works her entire life specifically, but not limited to paintings and ceramics with art works having been displayed in the Hamilton Art Gallery, Uvongo Art Gallery and some being purchased by high net individuals such as the founder of the great Steyn City of Johannesburg and many others. She is also known and admired by many people who have travelled South Africa through her famous shop adjacent to the Engen Garage in Kokstad whereby she sourced unique items from Indonisia, India, Malaysia, Bali and various parts of Asia and Africa bringing in containers of items she identified and became successful sellers. The name "Scatterings of Africa" was taken from her shop at the Engen garage which she owned and operated for 35 years.
The other is an up and coming businessman Jevon King who can be commonly found smartly dressed and smelling like a fragrance shop AKA "The Man About Town". Coming from a corporate background he has gained business experience at a national level as well as within the SADC region specifically Eswatini, Botswana, Namibia and Mozambique. Having left his national position at MTN South Africa and returning to KwaZulu-Natal at the beginning of 2021 he has pursued other business ventures within the digital marketing space, telecommunications as well as commercial property within a family owned business in East Griqualand. He has many passions but one he feels strongly about is his love for Pondoland and its culture as this is where his happiest childhood memories were made. He has expressed that out of all projects he has been apart of that this is by far the most exciting.
With both individuals sharing a common passion and love for Africa they have combined their talents and created a brand that reflects this passion and delivers a creative touch that expresses this love for African beauty and individualism. The logo reflects the vision of this brand which is to be an authentic fashion movement inspired by Africa by Africans and shared by scattering love for Africa in hope of igniting creativity through art and fashion.
