Every year we spend the holidays with my brothers and their families at my parent’s house in Keurboomstrand. This annual family gathering is something we all look forward to all year long. It’s a time of year I always cherish, and the cousins can't wait to see each other. Our days are spent fishing, swimming, beaching and of course, indulging in delicious food. We turn every meal into an event, and, of course, most meals start with fresh fish as appetizers.
I have some pictures from last year's Christmas lunch for inspiration and will definitely post this year's too.
We enjoyed fresh fruits, beef tongue with homemade mustard, and Oupa’s homemade fish pate (freshly caught on his boat). The main course included lamb on the rotisserie, Ouma’s famous oxtail (which deserves its own video), potato bake, rice, and veggies.
Just look at those beautiful salads – one is a fine bean and roasted tomato salad, and the other is roasted cauliflower with tahini dressing and crispy onions.
For dessert, we had vanilla strawberry sponge cake, ice cream, homemade chocolate sauce, and some truffles. Later that evening, we all dished up again and enjoyed the leftovers.
