⤵️candles & your pets
🐶being conscious of how candles affect your pets is something I haven't seen many candle makers talk about, and as a cat parent, this is something I'm particularly aware of
🐱animals of all kinds can react more strongly to scented candles than humans, so here are a few baseline tips for burning candles if you share your space with a baby of the fur variety
1️⃣do not leave your pet alone with a burning candle
2️⃣if they show any signs of irritation or allergy when burning a scented candle, blow it out and es**rt your pet somewhere with fresh air immediately
3️⃣if they have any trouble breathing, contact your vet immediately
4️⃣fragrance oils tend to be a bit safer than essential oils. However, reactions to both are possible
5️⃣avoid any kind of candle with lilies as they are some of the most toxic plants to cats, and can cause issues in dogs
🐀note that this is based on research I've done on how cats and dogs can react to candles. I've been told by owners of rats that they are incredibly sensitive to scents, so please do your own research before bringing a candle into a space with lil critters
🐶there you have it! Add anything I've missed in the comments so we can all burn our candles safely for our fur babies
