Not every Father’s Day needs a restaurant booking.

This year we’re slowing things down.

A lamb turning slowly over the fire. A glass of wine waiting at the table. Live music in the gardens. Long conversations. No rushing. No screens. Just good food and the people you love most.

Join us for our very first Sunday Spit & Sip at Femme Pétale Flower Farm as we launch our monthly Sunday Lunch Series.

Expect a slow-roasted lamb spit, seasonal dishes, curated wine tasting with Allee Bleue, live music and a beautiful afternoon designed for gathering.

Because the best celebrations aren’t complicated.

They’re shared around a table.

Not just flowers. Not just a venue. Not just a farm.

At Femme Pétale, we are building an agritourism destination where people can step away from the noise and reconnect with nature, creativity and themselves.

Yes, we host private functions and celebrations. From birthdays and bridal showers to corporate gatherings, team days and intimate events, we create experiences that feel beautifully considered and deeply connected to the season.

But what we offer goes beyond a traditional venue.

Private flower picking experiences
Farm-to-table lunches and garden gatherings
Wine tastings and curated food experiences
Gardening workshops and floral masterclasses
Wellness mornings and healing experiences
Corporate retreats and team-building days
Seasonal celebrations inspired by the rhythms of nature

Everything we do is rooted in the garden. The flowers, the food, the learning, the conversations and the moments of connection.

Whether you are looking for a unique function space, an immersive experience, or simply a reason to slow down and spend time in nature, we would love to welcome you to the farm.

Because some of life’s best moments happen when we gather around a table, get our hands in the soil, and remember our connection to the earth.

Enquiries are now open for private events, corporate experiences and seasonal farm gatherings.

The funny thing about this flower farming thing, is that spring begins long before anyone else can see it.

While most people are wrapped up in blankets and trying to survive winter, we’re already watching the first signs of the season ahead. Tiny shoots. New growth. Possibility.

Next month our spring flowers should begin, and with them comes the start of so many things we’ve been dreaming about: flower pickings, long tables, workshops, slow afternoons in the garden, shared meals, beautiful conversations, and experiences designed to help people reconnect with nature and themselves.

This space is still teaching me. Every new field, every season, every challenge has come with its own lessons. But that is part of the magic too. We are not just growing flowers here. We are building a place to gather, celebrate, learn, slow down, and experience the beauty of the seasons as they unfold.

The vision is still growing, just like the garden.

And honestly, I can’t wait to welcome you into it.

A little gift from the roses before they slip into winter rest.

This time of year always catches me by surprise. Just when I think the season is slowing down, a rose unfurls a perfect bloom as if to remind me that beauty often arrives in the quiet moments.

Winter is also when I start dreaming and planning. Walking the fields, making notes, deciding what stays, what moves, and where new life will be planted. After losing a number of roses during the move, this season’s recon mission is well underway, and I already have a list of varieties that need to find their way back into the garden.

If you’re planning to move or prune your roses, I prefer doing mine in the latter part of July, before the full moon, just as they prepare to wake for spring. I did this only in September last year which is definitely not the right time!

The garden is never finished. Each season teaches, reshapes, and offers another chance to create something even more beautiful.

And if roses have your heart too, my Rose Growing Guide covers everything from planting and feeding to pruning, pests, seasonal care, and creating a flourishing rose garden in our South African climate.

Have you started planning your winter rose jobs yet?

What if that flower patch became something more?

What if those seed trays on your patio became bouquets for customers?

What if the thing you currently do for joy could become an income stream, a side hustle, or even a business of your own?

When I started growing flowers, I wasn’t handed a blueprint. Most of what I learned came through trial, error, crop failures, successes, and years spent figuring things out one season at a time.

Bud to Business was created to shorten that learning curve.

This course combines flower farming, harvesting, floral design, pricing, marketing, and business foundations into one practical roadmap designed specifically for aspiring flower farmers and growers.

Whether you’re dreaming of selling a few bunches at a market, growing for weddings, supplying florists, or creating a flower-filled life closer to nature, this course will help you take those first steps with confidence.

Because every flower farm starts the same way:

One seed.
One bed.
One decision to begin.

Comment BLOOM and I’ll send you more information about Bud to Business.

Three little guides. Hundreds of questions answered.

Over the years, I’ve been asked the same questions again and again:

When do I prune my roses?
How do I grow flowers from seed?
When do I divide my dahlias?
Why aren’t they flowering?
Can I save my own seed?

So I decided to put everything I know into simple, practical guides that you can return to season after season.

Petals & Pruning is your companion for all things roses, with a South African seasonal calendar to help you know exactly what to do and when.

Seed to Vase takes the mystery out of growing flowers from seed, helping you sow with confidence and enjoy more blooms for less.

Uncovering Dahlias is the guide I wish I had when I first started. From planting, pinching and harvesting to lifting, storing, dividing and even breeding your own varieties, it answers the questions I receive most often. It also includes a South African dahlia calendar so you can work with the seasons, not against them.

These guides were created to help you grow with more confidence, make fewer mistakes, and enjoy the journey so much more.

Because gardening becomes a lot more joyful when someone has already done the trial and error for you.

Which guide would help you most right now: Roses, Seeds or Dahlias? And which guide would you like next?

One of my favourite things about growing flowers is that they constantly remind me they have a rhythm of their own.

Did you know that anemones actually close up at night and reopen in the morning? This movement is called nyctinasty and helps protect the delicate centre of the flower from cooler temperatures and changing conditions overnight.

It’s almost as though they tuck themselves into bed and wake up with the sunrise.

And then there is this beauty…

This corm was supposed to be Levante Azzurro, known for its soft lavender-blue tones. Instead, this little surprise has emerged looking more like a rich grape sorbet than anything blue.

One of the joys of flower farming is that in the packing and shipping you will sometimes get a little mix up surprise, which allows you to experience a variety you never knew you would LOVE.

Personally, I think she’s rather gorgeous.
What do you think?

What if Father’s Day felt a little slower this year?

Not another crowded restaurant. Not another rushed lunch reservation.

Instead, imagine gathering around a long table on a flower farm. Live music drifting through the gardens. A glass of wine in hand. Lamb slowly turning on the spit. Beautiful seasonal food arriving to the table. Time to actually sit, connect and enjoy the people around you.

This Father’s Day we’re launching the very first of our Sunday Spit & Sip Series - monthly farm lunch experience designed to celebrate good food, good wine and meaningful connection.

Set in the countryside of Pretoria East, this special afternoon includes a slow-roasted lamb spit, seasonal farm-style feast, curated Allee Bleue wine tasting and live music in a beautiful garden setting.

And because one Sunday simply isn’t enough, this is just the beginning. Our Sunday Lunch Series will continue on the last Sunday of every month through to Heritage Day, creating a space where people can gather, celebrate and reconnect around the table.

Whether you’re celebrating Dad, bringing the family together or simply looking for a unique Gauteng dining experience, we’d love to welcome you.

Seats are limited and booking is essential.

Some seasons aren’t about flourishing loudly.
Some seasons are simply about keeping a few seeds alive while life asks more of you than expected.

I’m still planting. Slowly. In pockets of time between all the uncertainty, resistance, and the things I never planned for. And if I’m honest, I’ve felt behind more than once lately.

But every time I step back into the garden, I remember something important…
nature never rushes herself.

The garden has become my reminder that growth doesn’t always look productive or perfect. Sometimes growth is simply showing up again. Planting one tray. Watering one bed. Taking one deep breath. Beginning anyway.

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, uncertain, or like everyone else is somehow ahead of you - this is your reminder to slow down a little.

Go outside. Touch the soil. Plant something small. Sit in the winter sun with a cup of tea. Listen to yourself again beneath all the noise.

Clarity so often finds us when we stop forcing and start grounding.

And maybe that’s the encouragement today:
You do not need to have everything figured out to grow beautifully.

Slow Sundays are coming to the farm. 🍷

This Father’s Day we’re gathering around the table for the very first of our Sunday Spit & Sip Series - a monthly long lunch experience designed for good food, beautiful wine, live music and meaningful connection.

Think slow-roasted lamb spit turning over the fire, shared seasonal dishes, curated Allee Bleue wine tastings, winter sunshine filtering through the trees and an afternoon that feels beautifully unhurried.

The kind of Sunday where conversations stretch a little longer, glasses stay full, and everyone leaves feeling lighter than when they arrived.

This special Father’s Day edition marks the beginning of a seasonal series running on the last Sunday of every month through to Heritage Day, celebrating gathering, slowing down and bringing people back around the table again.

Seats will be intentionally limited to keep the experience intimate and relaxed.

We cannot wait to welcome you.

Bookings are now officially open for Father’s Day.
To reserve your table, book via the website before seats fill.
