Same room. Two hours apart.

Bare glass, hard afternoon light, nothing on the walls to soften it — a room you use because you have to, not because you want to.

What changed: triple-weave blackout with a sheer layer behind it, on a ceiling-mounted track so there's no gap at the top. Floor length, hem a centimetre clear of the floor.

The room isn't bigger. It just finally looks finished.

Six windows. Six rooms that didn't feel finished.

A bedroom on Al Reem where the sun arrived at six every morning. A living room in Khalifa City with three metres of bare glass. A majlis where the curtains stopped at the window frame and made a tall room look short.

Different rooms, same three decisions every time.

Track at the ceiling, not above the frame — that's what closes the light gap.
Hooks spaced by hand, so the folds fall evenly.
Hem a centimetre off the floor, off the dust.

None of it is complicated. Skipping it is what makes a curtain look cheap six months later.

A customer called us last month about curtains that had "gone bad."

They'd been up eighteen months. Sagging in the middle, gaping at the top, bunched on the floor at one end. She assumed the fabric was cheap and wanted to replace the lot.

We took them down. The fabric was fine.

The brackets had gone into plasterboard. Not solid wall — plasterboard, which holds a curtain for about a year and then slowly gives up. The track was mounted above the window frame instead of at the ceiling, so there was always a gap at the top letting light in. And the hooks had been spaced by eye, not measured, which is why the folds sat crooked from the first day.

Three fitting decisions. None of them about the curtain.

We rehung the same fabric on a proper track. Brackets into solid. Ceiling-mounted. Hooks spaced by hand. Pleats dressed and steamed. Hem set a centimetre clear of the floor.

Same curtains. Two hours. She thought we'd replaced them.

That's the thing nobody says in this trade: most curtains that fail were hung wrong, not made wrong. And the fabric gets blamed either way.
