In our residential projects, we design kitchens as the centre of daily life, where mornings start slowly, conversations happen naturally and guests always seem to gather. That means looking beyond layout and function to the materials, lighting and details that shape how the space feels to be in.

The majlis is evolving. Its purpose remains the same.

For this private villa in Al Khawaneej, Dubai, the client wanted a majlis that retained the sense of tradition and formality associated with the space, while giving it a more contemporary look and feel.

The majlis remains an important part of the home, designed around hospitality, conversation and large family gatherings. What continues to evolve is the design language around it.

Here, generous seating and a strong sense of symmetry preserve the formality of a traditional majlis, while contemporary furniture, lighting and finishes give the space a lighter, more refined character.

We explored different material and colour directions, showing how the same space can shift in mood while maintaining its function and cultural identity.

For us, evolving tradition is about understanding what should remain and what can move forward.

Not every client wants beige. And that’s OK.

As luxury design becomes more accessible across hospitality and residential markets, we’re seeing a very recognisable aesthetic emerge: warm neutrals, natural stone, soft textures and carefully layered shades of beige.

It’s an approach we use across many of our own projects, and when it suits the brief, it works beautifully.

But luxury doesn’t have to follow a single aesthetic.

Some clients have vibrant personalities. They collect art, love pattern, travel widely and want their spaces to reflect that energy. In those cases, our role as designers is to embrace it.

Colour, pattern and unexpected combinations can still feel sophisticated when they are used with confidence and considered as part of a wider composition.

For us, the starting point is always the same: understand the client, understand the space, and design an interior that feels genuinely theirs.
