Five years ago Adam sent us his resume just after 7 o'clock on a Monday night. Clint replied that evening wanting to know why he'd leave a supermarket management job to pack orders. Adam's answer got him an interview the next day.

He came on to pick and pack orders. Today he's our Operations Manager, and there's not much here he hasn't had a hand in: getting orders out the door, hiring staff, looking after customers, our product labels, and the Weekly Cut, which is now well over 200 editions.

Plenty has changed since October 2021. What hasn't is how much he cares about getting it right for the person on the other end. He truly is one of a kind, and we're so happy to have him as part of the Hectogon family.

Thanks for five huge years, Jonesy. Here's to the next five. 🎉

We were so happy to get everyone together at Lawnhub today to celebrate Emma's birthday (a day early, but who's counting). Emma is one of a kind: as brilliant at her job as she is as a person. She might officially sit in our finance and admin team, but her role stretches well beyond that, and there's genuinely nothing she can't turn her hand to. Please join us in wishing her a very happy birthday for tomorrow! 🎉

Congratulations to Sarah Coll on 2 years with Waterpro. Sarah has been working as one of our irrigation designers, first at Kent Town and now at Dry Creek. She has become a key part of the design team, and her hard work continues to help drive one of the fastest growing areas of our business.

Well done, Sarah and thanks for your continued work.

Clint Adams, Director of Waterpro and TheLawnHub presents 'Irrigation Matters' — a session on what separates an irrigation system that works for decades from one that causes headaches from the day it's switched on.

The goal of a great irrigation system is simple: deliver the right amount of water uniformly across every area that needs it, inside the window you're given, with little to no human intervention. Getting there comes down to six areas, and most people only do one or two of them well.

Clint walks through all six — starting with why a written specification matters even if it's only one page, how a strong spec makes for a better design and a genuine apples-for-apples tender, what to check during installation and why hold points catch problems while they're still cheap to fix, why commissioning tests like mains pressure and ohms resistance give you facts instead of opinions, and how a basic audit during a quieter period can show you exactly where your water and money are going.

He finishes with four things you can start doing straight away that don't cost anything: put together a simple one-page audit sheet, start capturing spec ideas as you think of them, sort out how and where your irrigation designs are stored and named, and decide now which points during an installation you'll actually go out and inspect.
