Fabric painting!
Not sure my photo actually does justice for how shimmery and sparkly the fabric paints are. But I’ll never quit my day job to be a photographer 😂
Transferring the image was the most challenging part. Because the fabric stretches drawing on the image is really hard to get accurate. So I used carbon tracing paper to get the images on the fabric then painted over.
This can be another homemade idea to gift, it’s personal, thoughtful and fun to paint. 🎨

Nothing like handmade!
Mother’s Day approaching and I seen this watercolour painting idea with names and thought this would be a great way to create something beautiful for your mum, grandma, nan, aunty etc…
All I used was card and a Kmart watercolour paint pallet. I lightly wrote the word I wanted to use, then picked different colours to make 5 dots into a flower shape. Once I finished the flowers I added in the greenery and leaves. You have creative control, and the end result is really lovely.
Handmade never means cheap, the time, thought that goes into creating something for someone to me is priceless.

My favourite toy making pattern ever!
This would, in my opinion, be considered an intermediate level pattern, and it has many pieces, with some hand embroidery included. These are also quite big, roughly 15” in height.
I usually gift these as selling them, nobody would pay what they are actually worth.
I enjoy sewing these deers when I have time, so school holidays are a good time.

Sometimes you just gotta sew something for yourself, just because it’s pretty and you like it.
I rarely sew for myself or keep what I create, but I had some lovely flannel fabrics that was just being stored. So I made a patchwork lap quilt and I decided to keep it.
I have a square template I use to cut out the squares. I sew the batting to the flannel fabric and build the patchwork quilt. Once I’ve used the squares up and I’ve sewn it to the desired size I then sew the backing to the quilt but doing stitch in the ditch. Then I finish with a bias on the edges, which I made using a YouTube video on how to create your own bias. Cheaper than buying it and you can get a closer colour match making it yourself.
I’m set for winter sewing with my new lap patchwork quilt.

This cream cord fabric I bought at spotlight and I have used DMC thread 838, which is a nice dark brown. Looks classic against the cream. I pick the image I want to embroider and transfer it onto a stabiliser that will dissolve when I finish sewing the image and then run it under water.

Usually I ask my husband to measure out and put on the snaps, but I was brave and did it myself🙌
All fabrics are from Spotlight, I used a cute jungle print and then a linen to contrast. It’s the cute fake pockets that I adore 😊
