I have not been making many cards recently, as I was working on special cards for people, and then trying to clear up my craft room after the Christmas onslaught. Now I am trying to finish cards I started. However for those of you expecting to see my cards at Euphoria in Aldinga, please be advised that they will only be there until the end of January. This is because they are no longer accepting commission only cards and I cannot pay $50 PER WEEK for a small shelf. They say they support small local businesses, but I have been priced out. However I will not entirely give up making cards as there are still a few people who order from me, and of course I make cards for family and friends. If you want a special card, please drop me a message. I try never to make the same card twice unless asked specifically to do so so you will be getting a unique card, unlike the mass produced things you see in the shops.
These 3 cards are ones I managed to finish last week!

I totally forgot to take a pic of the card I made for my husband! Here it is althoughthe colours seem a bit off on my camera. It is a 6x6” pinwheel card with a black white and gold background DSP, on a lilac card base. The matte for the pinwheel is actually bright white! I had some offcuts from last year’s Jocelyn Proust Aussie Christmas Wildlife, and they were too good to waste. I have not tried one of these before, so it took some faffing about to work out the sizes. The centre star shape was slightly wonky, but the Tin of Tags sentiment covered it quite well. On the dresser it stood out really well. The inside has a fussy cut Echidna and some of the background DSP plus a gold sentiment. I cannot show you that because I wrote a personal message in it.

Just about finished my cards now. The last overseas ones have been posted, still got a couple of Aussie ones to post and lots to hand out. To save hours thinking time, I used a basic template for all the bauble cards but of course, each one is different. The poinsettia has a flocked vellum background- I am not a fan of vellum but this one does not show the glue!

I had some left over baubles and some older ones that I did not use last year so I made a variety of cards today, having found out that I needed more cards than I had thought. I triedto make each one different although the gold and white twine is common to all cards. Sorry some pics are looking yellow, I cannot fix the problem!

Thank you to my friend Michaela of ChaelaCards for the inspiration for some bauble cards. I used her idea but did my own thing with it as I didn’t have the same papers or punch. Check out her page for great tips on how to make kits and DSP go further and for crafty inspiration.

I used 2” and a 1 3/4” punch for the basic bauble shape, and found an ancient set of Sizzix dies for the top of the baubles and the gold foil trellis on the red foil baubles. My favourite DSP the foiled Traditions of Christmas makes lovely floral baubles and I also used Elegant Pines Snowlakes paper for the greenery baubles. The blue and vvanilla baubles came from retired DSP Shining Brightly. Backgrounds were embossed with Dainty Diamonds or Starstruck folders.DSP backgrounds were from Shining Brightly and another one that is so old I only had enough for one card!

I love the Traditions of Christmas foiled DSP. In fact it took me a while to actually cut some of it up! Some is very bold others more delicate. I teamed some of the papers with matching dies, and also with die cuts from the Branching Out bundle. The sentiment on the first card is a stamp and die from the Christmas Labels bundle. The embossed background paper on the middle card is Dainty Diamonds ( retired), and the DSP on the third card was a freebie from a magazine that I bought over 15 years ago! Well I knew it would come in useful some day…….

It is that time of year again, so I am busy making Father’s Day cards which will be winging their way to Euphoria Small Business Collective in Aldinga. These are what I made this week using various stamps dies and papers in my collection mostly from Stampin Up! I may have time to use some other brands….watch this space. These are all small C6 envelope sized and are either $6 or $7. I can make larger, but no longer able to display in the shop as I am limited to fitting things in the card rack. I can make to order, but get in quickly as time is passing and each card takes a few hours or more to do.

Finally finished the hydrangea picture. I added a subtle border of hydrangea flowers because it felt too small and isolated before. I wanted to have a slightly smaller frame really, but had to make do with what I could get. Now to work on the landscape picture…..only got until Friday before the exhibition. Main flower by Heartfelt Creations, background texture stamps from Stampin’ Up! Painting, blending and shading by me, using watercolours, inks and some watercolour marker pens.
