Cheers to Melbourne! šŸ„‚āœØ

A busy few days at the trade fairs, sourcing for Niche, gathering inspiration and hunting down some beautiful new finds.

And apparently clocking up a ridiculous number of steps along the way! šŸ˜‚šŸ‘£

One more sleep and I’m back in Adelaide and back to the studio on Tuesday.

Can’t wait to share what I’ve found! 🩵

These beautiful Aboriginal artworks have been stretched and finished in our Australian Oak canvas float frames.
The natural timber complements the artwork beautifully while the float detail creates a subtle shadow line that allows the canvas to take centre stage.
Sometimes the best framing is the one you barely notice—because all your attention stays on the art.

When people think about custom framing, they usually notice the frame.

But often it’s the mat board that makes the biggest difference.

The right mat can create space, add depth, highlight colour, protect your artwork, and sometimes solve a design challenge.

From conservation mats protecting delicate art to rich coloured mounts and custom openings, each choice is carefully selected to complement the artwork and tell its story.

Take the circular hummingbird puzzle shown here—because of the shape of the finished piece, a traditional square or rectangular opening simply wouldn’t have worked. A custom circular mat allowed the artwork to be showcased exactly as intended.

A few recent projects from the workbench this week, each showing a different approach to mat design.

šŸ’«Which style is your favourite?

Remember when I said that wasn’t the only oversized piece on the workbench last week? šŸ‘€

Well, here she is 🤩

This striking piece has been another large-scale project keeping me busy behind the scenes.
I love how different it is from the Mediterranean artwork I shared earlier.
Where that piece was all soft textures and earthy tones, this one is bold, graphic and full of energy.

The frame was intentionally kept elegant and understated, allowing the artwork to take centre stage while adding just enough detail to elevate the finished piece.
Every artwork has its own personality, and finding the perfect framing solution is what transforms it into a statement piece.

Another oversized beauty ready for its forever home šŸ’«

You thought the last frame was big… šŸ‘€

While the 1.6m Mediterranean beauty was heading out the door, this oversized custom frame was taking shape in the workshop for another client’s artwork.

The artwork itself is still getting its final touches (a little paint work before framing), but I couldn’t resist sharing the frame. Sometimes when it’s this size, the frame becomes a project all of its own!

These are the weeks that leave me completely exhausted and wondering where the days went, but there’s also something incredibly satisfying about seeing large-scale projects come together piece by piece.

The workshop has been all about go big or go home lately. šŸ˜…

Now for the final artwork to be completed so this one can be assembled and revealed.

Stay tuned… this one’s going to be a showstopper. šŸ’«

Well, this explains my silence this week… šŸ˜…šŸ¤©

When your workbench is occupied by artwork that’s 1.6 metres long and bigger than you are, there isn’t much time left for Instagram!

This beauty kept me busy this week and completely took over the workshop. While I definitely miss having my Cape Town team around for projects like these, there’s also something incredibly rewarding about rolling up your sleeves and seeing a piece of this scale come together from start to finish. šŸ’Ŗ

Exhausting? Absolutely.

Exciting? Even more so šŸ˜

Seeing a stunning artwork transformed into a statement piece ready for its new home is one of those moments that never gets old.

And this wasn’t even the only oversized piece on the workbench this week… stay tuned for the next one. šŸ‘€

šŸ’« From the workshop this week…

Three beautiful memories of K’gari (Fraser Island), carefully framed and ready for their forever home.

There’s something special about turning a favourite place into artwork — preserving the colours, the feeling, and the stories behind it. From rainforest creeks to crystal-clear lakes and endless coastline views, these pieces bring a little piece of paradise indoors.

Custom framing isn’t just about protecting an image; it’s about celebrating a memory. šŸ’™

Which one would you choose for your wall — 🌿 rainforest, 🌊 beach, or šŸ’™ lake?

One year of creating beautiful spaces, framing treasured memories, meeting the loveliest clients and building a dream that has lived in my heart for years.

What started as a vision has become a little community — and I’m so grateful for every person who has walked through the doors of Niche this past year!
I feel truly blessed 🄰

Here’s to year one šŸ„‚

And all the beautiful things still to come šŸ’™
