The plumcot is getting ready, its small buds gathering strength. This tree is a prolific flowerer and fruiter; it seems to just give and give once it hits its stride. It is usually the first fruit tree to flower, the bees adore it.

I do apologise for the quietness, health has been a central issue this winter for both Mum & I.

It has been awhile since I've posted; I ended up laid out with an upper respiratory tract infection for nearly 4 weeks. Fun side effect of PVFS is that viruses really really linger.

The garden is quiet at the moment, things are slowly growing (like this fabulous cabbage) and we're having quite warm days here. Anyway I hope that everyone is having a lovely July wherever you may be.

We may be in winter but some things are still ripening; we've had quite the glut of eggplants and several different chillies. Now what to do with it all? 🤔

Our QLD Blue harvest. While we don't have as many as we would of liked, with the bizarre weather we've had over late Summer and early Autumn - we'll take this as a win.

The chillies are starting to ripen now even two weeks out from winter. Autumn hasn't been especially cool so I think we're in for an extended season. Just picked we have Bishop's Crown (very prolific), Cayenne, Hungarian Hot Wax, Carolina Reaper, Red Cherry, Aji Mango and another red sort that didn't have a name. The second slide is a hood harvest of Habanero from the cottage.

A little tour of the chillies growing here at home. We have a wide variety from Habanero to Carolina Reaper, Paprika and Hungarian Hot Wax, Aji Mango and Bishops Crown just to name a few. Now to decide what to do with them all.

The QLD Blue pumpkins are growing! It took such a long time for them.to start developing fruit but they are finally growing and taking off. We have about 9 in various stages of growth - and while not a lot of pumpkins - we're happy because we've not had much luck in the past. Mum makes a mean pumpkin soup so I'm well looking forward to soup season!
