🌹 The Story of a Rose 🌹
Long before it became Valentine’s Day’s most iconic bloom, the rose carried centuries of meaning.
In ancient mythology, the rose was sacred to Aphrodite -the goddess of love - later known to the Romans as Venus. It symbolised passion, beauty, devotion… and the tender vulnerability of the heart.
In the Victorian era, roses spoke the words people were too shy to say. One red rose meant “I love you.” Pink whispered admiration. White promised loyalty. Flowers carried emotion when voices could not.
And through the story of Saint Valentine, the rose became forever woven into February 14 — not just as a gift, but as a declaration.
As a florist, I don’t see “just roses.”
I see courage.
I see love that has endured.
I see new beginnings.
I see husbands who never miss a year.
I see first loves.
I see remembrance.
Every stem holds a story.
Every thorn reminds us love is never without risk.
Every bloom says, “You matter.”
This Valentine’s Day, may your roses speak beautifully for you. 🌹
With love,
Serena
