lt. We are proud to be Australia’s home of Emma Bridgewater pottery, with the most extensive range of this much-loved British brand. Our collection also includes fine wool throws and scarves from Bronte by Moon, a Yorkshire mill weaving since 1837; exquisite linens from Tessitura Toscana Telerie in Florence; and hand-thrown pottery by Jane Hogben in Buckinghamshire. Our partnerships extend to heritage makers such as Rathbornes of Dublin, hand-pouring beeswax candles since 1488, and to newer artisans like The Humble Hare & Friends, creators of striking handmade marble platters in Great Britain. While we love sharing the rich histories behind our brands, it is the quality of our products that truly sets us apart. Every item is personally hand-selected to reflect the craftsmanship, tradition, and style that define Finch & Lane.

Denby Pottery has fired its last piece.

For more than two centuries, Denby has been one of the great names in British ceramics - an icon of everyday tableware, made with skill, care and a deep sense of place.

It is desperately sad to see its British manufacturing arm come to an end, with more than 130 jobs lost in the UK. While Denby’s operations in China, Korea, and the US are expected to continue, something important has been lost: not just production, but craft, knowledge and continuity.

Derbyshire, Stoke-on-Trent and the wider British ceramics world will feel a little emptier without it.

At Finch & Lane, we believe British and European manufacturing matters. The pieces we choose to stock are not just “products”; they are the result of makers, materials, tradition and skill. When a manufacturer like Denby stops making in Britain, it is a reminder that these industries need more than admiration.

Thank you, for more than 200 years of pottery, purpose, and place.

With King’s Birthday Weekend upon us, and, as we like to do each year, we mark the occasion with a little royal humour.

Here’s King Charles speaking to the US Congress earlier this year - a couple of minutes of some of his driest, funniest lines, delivered with rather excellent British timing.

We’re open today until 3pm, then closed on Monday for the public holiday.

If you are having one, wishing you a relaxing long weekend.

Our next shipment from Jane Hogben is now being readied for collection in Buckinghamshire, England.

These pieces are not factory-made, not outsourced, nor mass-produced. Each one begins on Jane’s wheel, thrown by hand in the traditional way, before being individually decorated by Jane herself. The small variations are part of the point. The shape, the brushwork, the quiet irregularities - they are the evidence of the maker’s hand, not something to be edited out on a production line.

Handmade in England. A small shipment, made slowly, and worth waiting for.

I think we can agree, Spring in the UK has its own particular charm: hedgerows thickening, wildflowers appearing, and butterflies beginning to make themselves seen again.

For the keen butterflier (or anyone who simply enjoys spotting something beautiful on a walk), Emma Bridgewater’s Butterfly collection captures that very British moment beautifully. Common Blues, Chalkhill Blues, Large Blues and Small Coppers flutter across mugs, cereal bowls and plates in soft detail.

It’s a cheerful collection without being too sweet, and a lovely one for breakfasts, afternoon tea, or simply bringing a little English countryside to the table. The full collection is available in-store and online now. https://finchlane.com.au/product-tag/common-blue-butterfly/
