Two very different moods tonight in the dye pots 🧶

The first is a soft, deliberate lavender-blue — carefully mixed and measured to hit exactly the shade I had in mind.

The second is the total opposite: reds, pinks, and burgundy added to the pot, instinctively and yet random, letting the colours mix and pool wherever they wanted to.

I love both of these approaches to hand dyeing yarn, sometimes precise, and sometimes it's pure play, and both are equally satisfying in their own way. And honestly, the "happy accident" skeins are often my favourites, as they are truely one of a kind yarns.

Dyeing Indigo Merino 💙

I'm working with one of my 100% non-superwash Australian fine merino yarns — such a gorgeous yarn to dye, taking colour so richly and deeply.

This one's part of a new run of Spring colours that I'm working on, ready for the Spring months ahead.

There's something so satisfying about watching a plain skein transform like this. Slow work, but always deeply satisfying 😌

New Lace Bobbins 🧵

I have uncovered a whole stash of bobbin lace bobbins! I have three types of Midland bobbins, some beautiful Bruges bobbins and a few honiton bobbins.

Bobbin lace is one of my first loves, and one of those genuinely old crafts I'm passionate about keeping alive. It is the very essence of slow craft and takes real patience to work handmade lace in this way.

This one has been sitting in my heart for a while, and I'm so excited to finally share it with you 💜

First Stitches ~ Knitting Foundations is our brand new 10-week course, starting Friday 31st July, taking you from your very first cast-on all the way to knitting your own beanie in the round — reading patterns with confidence, and understanding exactly what you're doing (and why).

You'll finish with a full set of swatches ready for a blanket, a hand-knitted beanie of your own, and a keepsake workbook to refer back to for years to come. Complete beginners very welcome — no experience needed at all.

Join us in person at our Bairnsdale studio, or from anywhere in the world through the Creators Space online, with direct one-on-one support from me throughout 🦋

As a pilot course it's just $550 (usually $749) — Fridays, 12–3pm, 31st July through to 9th October.
