Since his very first class in year eight when he completed a shoe rack, Carl fell in love with woodwork. Fast-forward a few decades and Carl sits in his backyard surrounded by his own work, from the patio above, to the fruit bowls in front and almost everything else in vision. Carl always thought he’d become a carpenter while in school but with no apprenticeships available at the time, he landed a

printing job where he stayed for almost 30 years. Recently redundant Carl, wasn’t sure where life would take him next but he knew it meant he would have the time to pursue his passion. Spending endless hours in his shed cramming in as much machinery, wood and tools as possible, Carl finds his happy place…

Since Carl began experimenting with fruit bowls, cheese boards and candleholders, he has had family and friends expressing interest. Carl is now fortunate enough to be receiving constant orders from people all over Australia and even some of Perth’s own award winning wineries. With the support of his high school sweetheart of 28 years and the encouragement of his 4 children, Carl has seized the opportunity to fulfil his inner desires and create sentimental, unique and handmade wooden artwork.
