Our First Major Milestone Is Underway!

Our original establishment budget included approximately $21,000 for Board recruitment and governance development.

Through significant voluntary work undertaken by our Founder, we have already progressed this stage, including developing our governance framework, Board recruitment materials and commencing the recruitment of our founding Directors.

This represents substantial establishment work undertaken without drawing on donated funds.

As we progress through Board appointments, we will continue reviewing our establishment budget to ensure every dollar raised is directed where it is needed most.

We're not waiting for funding to begin building Shimmer & Whimsy Village. We're already building it.

🎉 WE'VE OFFICIALLY BEEN APPROVED TO FUNDRAISE! 🎉

This is a huge milestone for Shimmer & Whimsy Village, and the beginning of turning a vision into something real. 💜

🏡 Safe, affordable rent. Room to rebuild.

For too many people, finding somewhere affordable to live doesn't mean finding somewhere they can truly feel safe, supported or begin rebuilding their lives.

We're working to change that.

Shimmer & Whimsy Village is being developed as a place where stable housing, nutritious food, community, connection and practical support come together — giving people the breathing room to rebuild at their own pace.

And now, with our fundraising approval, we can begin raising the money needed to formally establish the not-for-profit organisation that will bring this vision to life.

💜 Our first fundraising stage is about building the foundations of the organisation — establishing our Board, obtaining professional advice and completing registration. Donations at this stage will not fund housing or support services.

Every donation, every share and every conversation helps us take another step towards making this Village a reality.

I wanted to share something we’re working on because housing shouldn’t become unaffordable the moment life gets hard.

At Shimmer & Whimsy Village, we’re designing homes that can be built for far less than traditional housing, with rent capped at 20% of income so people can stay housed even when their circumstances change.

I’m currently looking for people who may be interested in helping shape Shimmer & Whimsy Village from the beginning.

We’re seeking Expressions of Interest for Founding Board Directors to help establish the governance, accountability and foundations needed to move the Village from concept toward reality.

Shimmer & Whimsy Village is being developed as a protected, live-in community for people rebuilding after crisis — with stable housing, privacy, shared food, practical support, gardens, animals, learning opportunities and genuine community.

These are pro bono governance roles, and I’d love to connect with people who bring experience in areas such as governance, finance, law, housing, construction, risk, safeguarding, philanthropy, business or community development.

You don’t need to come from the community sector. I’m looking for thoughtful people with strong judgement who believe we can build something better for people who currently fall through the gaps.
