Kitchen car chats 🚗

We’ve been head down this week designing three kitchens, so a car trip to Melbourne turned into a debrief on our own.

Shane’s highlight is his coffee station. He takes his role very seriously, and I’m not mad about it! Mine is a slide-out appliance tray that hides all the ugly appliances. I do love a clutter free workspace.

But not everything is perfect, and we both agree on the natural stone benchtop as something we’d do differently. It etches, but we’ve made peace with the patina rather than banish lemons from our kitchen forever. I’d also swap out our gunmetal sink for stainless next time around.

You won’t get everything right. But you’ll get a lot right and the rest becomes the advice you give your next client. 😉

We don’t post a lot of finished rooms here. I’m sure many of you wonder if we actually have any clients!

Many of our wonderful clients actually prefer to keep their homes private, and we are totally fine with that. A home that feels deeply personal should feel personal.

So here’s the next best thing - our materials board for a beautiful primary bedroom we’ve just completed. Every piece chosen to make this particular couple feel completely at home in their new space.

We know how it turned out. More importantly, they know how it turned out. And that’s kind of the whole point.

I’m sorry…

Im not very consistent on IG.

Life, work and the real world tends to keep getting in the way - and that is something I definitely won’t apologise for.

I’ve made some wonderful connections here, but it’s no secret that it’s getting harder for small businesses to be seen.

So this year I am committing more time to connecting with people the old fashioned way!

That’s why I created our monthly Design Sessions. Free, monthly chats where you can come along and ask me anything design related - IRL!! ☺️

Last month we solved rug size dilemmas, armchair queries, bedroom wall colours and had a general chat about what it like to work with us and our processes.

It was very relaxed and we all learnt from one another. There’s no hard sell and I don’t send you a hundred emails afterwards hustling for work. It’s just a great opportunity to get some free advice or perhaps get to know me a little better and find out if we might be a good fit to work together in the future.

This month it is at Grainery Lane on Feb 18th at 7pm.
