One of the biggest mistakes I see is Feng Shui being considered too late in the design process.

By the time the floor plan is finished, the bedrooms are allocated and the major design decisions have been made, there can be far fewer options available.

That doesn’t mean Feng Shui can’t still help. But when it’s considered from the beginning, it can influence some of the decisions that are hardest and most expensive to change later.

For me, Feng Shui isn’t something you add on top of good design.

It’s another layer of intelligence in the design process.

Water is an amplifier of energy. And getting its placement right means considering the quality of the water, its location and the direction of its flow.

Can a building feel masculine or feminine?

At Barangaroo, the contrast between Barangaroo House and Crown Sydney makes for a pretty good case study.

In Feng Shui, one of the aspects we consider are the yin and yang qualities in the built environment, including form, shape, movement, softness, strength and how a building relates to its surroundings.

Some buildings feel more receptive and feminine. Others feel more dominant and masculine.

And some make the comparison very obvious. 😂

We went for a wander from Darling Harbour through to Barangaroo, stopping to talk about the energy of place, the design details, and generally having opinions along the way.

Hotel industry girl power this week. 👑

I’m back at ICC Sydney speaking at Australia’s largest hotel & accommodation industry event.

Last year I had the pleasure of speaking alongside these queens, Ozge Fettahlioglu, Anna Verghese and Belinda Cendron, on “Bringing the X-Factor to your Hospitality Venue” and I’m looking forward to being back in the room with them again this year.

This time I’ll be joining another world-class lineup of hotel, accommodation and wellness experts: Kirsty Ludbrook, Belinda Cendron and Juliet Ashworth, for a panel discussion on “Multi-sensory wellness: How to breathe new life into your property.”

We’ll be talking about how hospitality spaces can support guest wellbeing, encourage people to stay longer, create more welcoming and auspicious environments and contribute to commercial success.

From a Feng Shui perspective, I’ll also be sharing how layout, orientation, circulation and energy flow can influence the way people experience a hotel or hospitality venue from the moment they arrive.

Wildly excited to be named a finalist in The Urban Developer’s 2026 Urban Leader Awards.

For years, I’ve been working to bring Feng Shui into the broader property and design conversation, moving beyond the myths and misconceptions that still surround it.

There is still so much opportunity for Feng Shui to contribute to the way we design homes, developments and spaces for people, and I love seeing that conversation grow.

This recognition feels like a real milestone, and I’m so proud to be part of where Feng Shui is heading next.

Feng Shui often gets reduced to nine lemons on the dining table and red ribbon around the bathroom pipe, but it’s really so much more than that.

One of the most important aspects of Feng Shui is our connection with nature and the way our surroundings affect us.

And while we can bring nature into our homes in different ways, there’s nothing quite like actually being in it.

💁🏻‍♀️ It’s one of the reasons I’m taking a group of women to the Blue Mountains this November for my Feng Shui and Wellness Retreat.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Feng Shui is that it’s all about decluttering.

💁🏻‍♀️ It isn’t.

A tidy home can still have poor Feng Shui, and a home full of books, art, colour and personality can have very good Feng Shui.

What matters is how the space actually works, how it feels to move through it, and how the environment affects the people living there.

That’s why I always look beyond the obvious.

Sometimes the issue is clutter.

Sometimes it’s layout.

Sometimes it’s light, movement, placement or the way a room is being used.

The interesting part is learning to notice what your home is telling you.
