Does your switchboard look like this?
Some people mistakingly believe these are safety switches ,all they do is replace porcelain fuses so there is no need for fuse wire

These were typical in 1960s 70s 80s houses and are renowned for over heating and switchboard fires especially when the wrong size plug in circuit breaker inserted

Heat is also generated in copper bus bar located behind top of fuse causing switch board to burnout due to loading and breakdown of connections
