We head back home today after our extensive time away, and I think we are all ready to have a relaxing holiday!! What a whirlwind of a trip!!! 😂
Of course we had to visit Stone Henge, a bucket list moment for Pete, before heading back to London. Here, we completed doing a few things we didn’t do when we first arrived, like the changing of the guards, Covent Gardens (loved the colours of Neal’s Yard there), Harrods, a few shows (Mousetrap, London’s longest running Agatha Christie show (74 yrs!) and The Play that Went Wrong), plus Tate Modern to see the Frida Kahlo exhibit, then Brick Lane and a Jack The Ripper tour.
Thank you UK for so many great memories!! I feel as though we did SOOOO much, but haven’t even touched the surface. Ready for that sleep on the plane now 😉

We have just spent a couple of days in Falmouth, a very different fishing village to St Ives …..more industry here, along with so many galleries!
On our way back up toward London and decided to visit gorgeous Polperro, yet again a very different fishing village in Cornwall ….very quaint and so interesting exploring each place we come to…..So special 🥰

Lucky we packed for all seasons! St Ives in Cornwall was so sunny and yet again, a totally different landscape!
We have had three days of taking in the sights here with lots of coastal views, the hugest seagulls I have ever seen, and lots of local artists, along with more narrow alleyways of gorgeousness!
We are certainly so lucky to have had such perfect weather! Another beautiful place to visit if ever you can.
Also, a quick update on my latest fabric range Appleby Farm…..it is finally being sent out to shops, so look out for it!! We will have it on our website if you have trouble finding it at your local store.

On heading down to St Ives in Cornwall, we stopped off at two places along the way.
The first was the incredible vision of Jo’s… ‘Cowslip Workshops’…. a wonderful place to visit in Launceston UK, with her wonderful patchwork shop, along with a few other small businesses, and her delicious cafe. We were very spoilt on her farm and had so much fun looking around.
Our second stop was Port Isaac (yes, for all you Doc Martin fans!), where we explored the streets for a few hours, then hunted for buried treasure (I was told by a customer at Poppy Patch about Pirate Glass on the beach at Port Isaac, so we looked, and found! It was like finding gold!! 😂). Two great places to visit if ever you are lucky enough to have the chance!

Our next stop on our Grand Adventure is the stunning Lakes District where we spent two glorious days exploring the villages and the hills beyond. We did an amazing walk which led us to the cute little town of Grasmere, went to the home of Beatrix Potter (a must-do in my eyes, visited Hawkshead, and spent some time in Kendal. We had just two days here, and would have loved to stay longer.
I did come across the home of ‘Luna Lapin’ in Kendal too, a sweet patchwork/knitting shop full of bunnies and other magical creatures which I once had books of in my shop. So great to see it in person 😍

Aaaaahhh……Scotland!! I can’t describe the magnitude of the mountains we are facing here. They are the most magnificent beasts I have ever seen. Totally awe inspiring, and cannot be captured on film in any way.
We have spent the last few days up near the Aisle of Skye in Invergarry, exploring the Loch’s (and yes Loch Ness with no scary monsters found), Urquay Castle, Eilean Doran Castle, Portree, and Old Man of Storr and Fairy Pool walks.
A little bit cooler up here (and wetter 😉) so green and rugged. You can probably tell I am loving it here, just a little ;-)

We have been having a great time over in the UK. Our first stop after the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham was a visit to Poppy Patch for Show-and-Tell where I met many likeminded souls. We then spent a few days in the Cotswolds. Such an amazingly gorgeous area! We stayed at Stow-on-the-Wold, but visited many other villages. Stunning!

The next stop on our amazing adventure in the UK is Scotland, where we had the pleasure of staying with the wonderful Julia and family who put up with us for amazing jam-packed days!
They live in a quiet little village a few minutes away from Peebles in the border district of Scotland. Everywhere is surrounded by rolling hills which filled me with happiness.
We also visited Jedburgh to see Mary Queen of Scots House, Jedburgh Prison, and the Abby, as well as a picnic lunch in the rotunda.
A couple of days were had in crazy Edinburgh where the Fringe Festival was in full swing!! It was great to see all the buskers, visit Edinburgh Castle, explore the Royal Mile, and Victoria St (the inspiration behind Diagon Alley for all of the Harry Potter fans), as well as learning some history of the area.

Of course, whilst in London, one MUST visit Liberty, and yes! What a feast for the eyes. I spent far too long (or so I’m sure my son thought!!!) wandering the many floors of deliciousness. Liberty of London deserved a post all of its own 😍 …..and yes, I now I have a beautiful little (yes, little!) Liberty shopping bag filled with a little bit of lovely to remember my time there 🥳….bliss!
