I am crazy about paper.

Color, prints, texture all excite me and hence PaperSimplicity was born. I like the idea of humble paper turned into beautiful cards, tags and even flowers. It brings immense joy and feeling of care when shared with anyone. My work is inspired by everyday living and like to capture those moments in paper. Behind the scenes of my paper quilling sea shell 🌊🐚

From the first sketch to painting, hand-cutting every strip, then patiently lining, curling and twirling… every detail built layer by layer.

Hours… days… all coming together in just a few seconds on screen.
If only real life work moved as fast as a reel ✨

But then again…Rome wasn’t built in a day 😜

Gold leaf or metal leaf is applied to projects to give luxurious decorative gilded finish. I was instantly attracted to it and curiosity began on how to blend it with line edge quilling.

You apply glue to surface and add very delicate gold leaf. Wait to dry and remove excess. Simple but as you see paper line is so fine and uneven in some areas. I like this unevenness as I hand cut paper for my projects.

Gently brush off excess followed with brush of glue and water mix. Elements of pop of gold is success. To my knowledge it’s never seen before (no disrespect to others but share your creation)

A sea shell, but make it shimmer ✨

This piece began with curiosity how could I blend the elegance of gold leaf with the precision of line-edge quilling? Gold leaf or metal leaf is often used to create that rich, gilded finish… but in quilling? That felt like unexplored territory.

The process sounds simple: apply glue, lay the delicate gold leaf, let it dry, and brush away the excess. But with quilling, where every paper line is so fine and intentionally uneven it becomes a dance between control and letting go.

I hand-cut my paper strips, so imperfections are part of the story. The uneven edges catch the gold in unexpected ways, and honestly, that’s what I love most. A gentle brush to remove excess, followed by a light seal of glue and water… and suddenly, subtle pops of gold start to emerge ✨

It’s delicate, experimental, and a little unpredictable but that’s where the magic lies.

To my knowledge, this combination isn’t commonly seen in quilling (and if you’ve explored it too, I’d genuinely love to see your creations!). Always learning, always pushing boundaries.
