ChatGPT can show you what your home could look like.
But can it tell your builder how to build it?

We recently met with clients who had used ChatGPT to visualise their future home, and honestly, it did a fantastic job.

Within minutes, we understood the style, mood and overall vision they were hoping to achieve.

But as we started unpacking the image and discussing the actual details behind it, something interesting happened.

The clients loved the overall look, but many of the specific details shown in the image weren't actually what they wanted.

And that's the challenge with AI-generated images.

They're brilliant at communicating inspiration, but they don't explain the hundreds of decisions that sit behind a finished space.

Your builder needs more than a beautiful image.
They need plans...
Specifications.
Dimensions.
Products.
Materials.
Details.
Documentation.

Because builders don't build images.
They build information.

We love that more homeowners are using AI as part of their design journey. It's a powerful communication tool and one that can help create better conversations between homeowners, designers and builders.

But inspiration is only the beginning.

ChatGPT can help you imagine it.
We help you build it. 🤎

Frantic Friday Flatlays....
Milla's up first. 🤎

Each we will give each other an inspiration image, set a 7-minute timer, and challenged ourselves to create a material palette inspired by the image.

No overthinking, no second-guessing, just trusting our instincts and pulling together a scheme under pressure.

Once the timer was up, we chat through our selections, and how we translated the inspiration into a cohesive palette.

Come along for the ride and have a laugh with us.

Following on from our last post, we also had the opportunity to design several additional joinery elements throughout the home, each carefully considered to balance functionality with the overall aesthetic.

The wall-mounted TV unit was designed with practicality in mind, allowing clear access underneath for easy cleaning, including the use of a robot vacuum. Introducing timber into the space helped soften the darker finishes, bringing warmth and creating a cohesive connection back to the kitchen palette.

Within the bedroom, the joinery was designed to maximise everyday storage while keeping the space feeling calm and uncluttered. Recycled rustic timber was used to frame the open shelving, adding texture and character, while the matte black cabinetry tied seamlessly into the home’s “Got Any Blacker?” aesthetic. 🖤

All spaces were developed in 3D, allowing us to clearly communicate the design intent to the client, cabinet maker, and builder. Ensuring a smooth transition from concept through to installation.

This home is getting so close to handover, which is always such an exciting stage of the build journey. 🏡✨

We originally guided these clients through all of their selections early last year, creating a palette they loved and documenting everything so it could flow smoothly through construction.

Along the way, one particular product (which is used a lot) started creating some hesitation on site, leaving the clients feeling stressed and unsure when the builder started to push technical installation decisions back onto them.

They reached out, and we got in contact with the product rep, and he reached out to the builder to help him through the installation requirements to keep the project moving.

Because building isn’t about one person knowing absolutely everything, it’s about having the right team around you. 🤎

Designers, builders, suppliers and reps all bring different knowledge to the table, and when everyone communicates well, problems get solved quickly and confidently.

Special thanks to for helping us out.

This is us, in our element. 🤎

Collaborating, problem solving, refining ideas, and helping bring our clients’ homes to life in a way that feels thoughtful, cohesive, and deeply personal to them.

One of the things that makes our process so special is that there are two of us behind every project.

While one of us may take the lead throughout your journey, every project is constantly being discussed, reviewed, and bounced between both of us. Because the best ideas rarely happen in isolation.

One thought leads to another.
One perspective opens up a completely different direction.
And often, that's where the magic happens.

Having two designers working together means your home benefits from two different creative minds, two sets of experience, and two perspectives that challenge and build upon each other to create the best possible outcome for you.

Whether we’re reworking a difficult floorplan, refining cabinetry layouts, selecting finishes, or helping you visualise your future home, we are always collaborating behind the scenes.

Because when you work with one of us, you work with both of us. ✨

And we truly believe that creates something even better for our clients.

Following on from our last post, we’re stepping into this homeowner’s ensuite 💚

This project, in collaboration with Outlier Studio, is a hybrid renovation and extension, which meant working within a number of existing conditions. Angled walls shaped around original chimneys to maximise floor space, 3000mm ceiling heights, original higher window heights, different internal door and shower screen heights, and varying tiling heights… there was a lot to navigate.

And understandably, it became difficult for our clients to confidently visualise how it would all come together.

So we shifted gears and moved into 3D modelling.

This is where thoughtful design and planning really shine. When everything is resolved well, it feels calm, simple and effortless… but there’s a lot happening behind the scenes to achieve that outcome.

The vanity is a perfect example of this approach.
Rather than stopping abruptly, it continues into the angled wall, creating additional bench space and incorporating a clever door that reads as drawers below. The result feels integrated, intentional, and completely at home within the space… not something that has been forced in.

The brief also called for a statement of green, introduced through the shower walls. To maximise impact while being mindful of budget, we extended the colour beyond the tiled area by painting the upper section to match. This achieves the look of full-height tiling without the added cost of tiling to 3000mm… and with far less cleaning too.

Resolving the space in 3D also meant that when it came to documentation, everything could be clearly communicated back to the team and builder, with visuals supporting every decision.

This ensuite is a beautiful example of how clever planning can take a complex space and turn it into something that feels seamless, considered, and completely unique.

It’s not something you see every day… and exactly why we love what we do ✨
We love making the complicated feel simple.

There’s nothing better than new samples arriving in the studio 🤎

We’ve just added some beautiful new pieces to our range, and of course we couldn’t resist having a little fun styling them with some of our existing pieces.

One of the things we love most about what we do is seeing how a single element can come to life in so many different ways, all depending on the ideas and creativity behind it.

We can’t wait for you to see them in person ✨

Following on from our last post where we helped these homeowners redesign their kitchen, living and dining, we then brought the vision to life through the materials palette including their ensuite transformation too. ✨

This is always one of our favourite stages, where everything starts to feel real and you can truly see how the space will come together.

For this project, we leaned into a soft, warm and neutral palette, layering beautiful textures to add depth and interest. 🤍
From the subtle variation in the stone, to the warmth of the timber tones, and the softness of the carpet underfoot, every element was selected to work harmoniously together.

We paired creamy, handmade-look tiles with a refined benchtop selection, keeping things light while still adding character. The timber introduces warmth, grounding the space and tying in with the overall feel of the home, while the darker hardware adds just the right amount of contrast. 🤎

It’s these small details, the balance of tones, the mix of finishes, the way each material complements the next, that elevate a space from simple to considered.

Seeing everything laid out together gave the homeowners complete confidence in the direction, knowing that every selection had purpose and that the final result would feel cohesive, calm and inviting. 🙌

This is where the vision really comes together.

Renovating with small, pokey spaces can be challenging, but not impossible ✨

These homeowners are currently living in what you would call a storybook home, tall pitched ceilings and beautiful high windows, but with smaller, more confined spaces. They reached out to us wanting to renovate internally, because they didnt know how to turn their vision into reality.

Their main pain point was the kitchen. There simply wasn’t enough space, and it wasn’t functioning in a way that supported how they wanted to live day to day. By moving its location we were able to create a wonderful new usable space.

We brainstormed a range of floorplan options, really took the time to understand what they wanted to achieve, and were able to design a new kitchen, living and dining layout. This included a walk-in pantry, something they didn’t have previously, but was high on their wishlist. 🏡

After a few meetings, we had a clear vision, a refined layout, and a cohesive colour and materials palette all brought together. 🎨

The biggest takeaway from this project is that no space is ever impossible to work with. With the right planning and guidance, even the most compact layouts can be transformed into something functional, beautiful, and tailored to you.
And because we worked within their original footprint we don't need costly draftees and building permits.

Being able to present this in 3D not only helped the homeowners visualise the space, but gave them confidence that what we were proposing was not only achievable, but exactly what they had been hoping for.
And of course all documented ready for the builder to begin.🙌

For 4 years… they’ve been thinking about renovating.

Going back and forth
Not knowing where to start
Feeling stuck in the “what ifs” and overwhelm

Sound familiar?

Today was different.
Today was the day they took the first step.

And honestly… that’s the hardest part. 🤎

Because once you start, everything begins to shift.
Clarity replaces confusion.
Ideas start to take shape.

And suddenly, what once felt impossible starts to feel achievable.

This is where we come in.

Anyone can choose materials…
But not everyone understands how to make it happen.

With over 20 years in the building industry as an estimator, we bring real construction knowledge into every decision.

So your home isn’t just beautiful.

It’s buildable, costed correctly, and runs smoothly from start to finish.

We’re here to guide you.
To help you see what’s possible.

And to turn that “we don’t know where to start” into a clear, confident plan forward.

If you’ve been sitting on your renovation for years…
Maybe today is your day to take that first step too. 🤎
