Candle of the Month for September - WAVE

This striking candle is hand dipped using lead free cotton wick and 100% pure Australian beeswax. They are repeatedly hand dipped into a molten vat of pure beeswax before being gently twisted and then being hand dipped again until the perfect size is achieved. Made to fit snugly into a standard 20mm taper candle holder, these are an intriguing point of difference to a standard taper candle, with their gentle curves and wavy silhouette.

These are very uniquely hand made, you will definitely not have 2 candles that are an exact replica of each other - how special is handmade?!

There is a limited amount of these candles and they will only be available for sale during September.

This one was too good to leave off the grid. Blurry, curvy, honey-scented goodness. If only you could touch this smoothness and deeply inhale the sweetness.

This isn’t even ‘small’ business.
This is micro business.

Candle wraps designed, printed and cut by hand.

It’s tedious, time consuming and of significantly less cost than outsourcing.

Is it as professional as I would like?
No.

Is it an efficient use of my time?
No.

Do I come close to breaking even with my products when I factor in time?
Absolutely not.

But that’s obviously the cost that I’m willing to pay.

And that’s why every sale, every interaction and every share or follow is so special and important to me.

Candle of the Month for August - HIVE

This wasn’t the candle that I intended to make for the first monthly feature. These candles came to fruition during a spell of very cold Winter days, where I warmed myself and sheets of beeswax in front of the heater. The room filled with a subtle scent of honey and a little family of candles was born.

And then I remembered the joy of quiet work, repetitive work, slow work, working with my hands…. and it told me (again) of the story that I am happiest when I’m making beautiful things.

It took me by surprise how much I enjoyed burning these candles. The heat of the flame burns so close to the walls of the candles and what remains is beautiful lace like edges. It’s so simple and charming.

There is a limited amount of these candles and they will only be available for sale during August. And you may also notice on the website, that there is a reduced amount of products; this is because I lost my way for a little while there and come to realise that you can’t have a heart led business without your own joy being a primary focus.

I trust that you too, will delight in and love burning these candles.

Hi there! It’s been a little minute and there’s some new updates for Wik & Ware that I’m really excited to get going. Kick off for my new monthly feature will start on the 2nd of Aug. Keep an eye out this week for when the store is back online again!

Thanks for sticking around whilst I had a wee break. I’m really excited about what awaits me (and you!) as I explore some new ideas.

Starting Monday, June 1st, is taking a break.

The extra special touch to this special day was hand dipped beeswax candles - the ultimate low-tox alternative to the ‘traditional’ chemical-laden candles.

These beauties add a sweet honey scent to the air, have enough burn time for many birthdays and present no risk to your health if wax drops on your cake - what more could you ask for?

Darling Luna, how sweet you are. A little bit outside of our normal offerings, but when I saw this mould, I thought of all the people who would love to use this candle. And dreamt of all the special ways it would be revered.

The little candles that almost never made it to the website. Truth be told, I’ve been sitting on these for probably 6 months or more, only making/selling them when approached by customers. I just so happened to be asked a few more times in the last month, so in this case, pester power paid off.

Burning for a solid 9 hours, these votives (deceptively) make quite the impact. And the best part being that these can be burned in glass holders which further illuminate the light AND they can be stop/started (which their smaller little friend, the tealight, can’t be).
