Just doing a QC check on the finished job

It’s those little details that matter once everything’s in

A cable out of place is easy to sort when you’re there to see it

There’s always a few variables along the way, so you keep checking and fixing as you go

That’s how you stay accountable to the job, the supplier, and the installer

If the budget’s there, I’ll usually say get it all done in one go

If not, we can tackle the internals first and look at the outdoor space after move-in

Even in winter, the sun can still hit hard and that’s worth thinking about

Zip screens are a solid option for alfresco areas when you want shade, privacy and bug protection

They’re made for outdoors and built to help you use the space through winter and summer

I always preempt clients before I meet them

There’s a fair bit to know, and that helps make decisions easier

I talk through the pros and cons of each option, so expectations are set properly

Because a blockout curtain still has light bleed in most cases

That honesty saves a lot of back and forth later on

That install stuck with me

A client was really distressed because what she’d been sold wasn’t the right fit

It’s the kind of moment that makes you slow down and check the job properly

If something’s being called blackout, it needs to actually suit the window and the space

That’s why I’d rather be honest from the start and take the right path

Ida Street San Souci came together beautifully

Sheers through the home, with motorised blockout rollers where needed

The void needed that extra privacy at night, so we worked around the space properly

I also like the way the main bedroom roller sits back against the feature wall

Every room was considered for what it needed, not treated the same

Beautiful curved wall in the front bedroom

I’d love a sheer running right across here, but you’ve also got to think ahead

A TV or artwork might go there one day, so you don’t want to eat up the whole space

Then there’s the corner detail, which means the pelmet needs to be built out wider

To make a curtain track curve through properly, you’re looking at a 320mm radius bend

A good example of daytime privacy with sheers

You can still get the natural light and the view out

When you want more cover, layer in rollers or blackout for night time

That’s a simple solution for living spaces and post-swim changing alike

If you’re weighing up sheer curtains, this is worth a look

Testing before offering it to clients

These curtain motors go on existing manual tracks

I’ve only installed three in the past 12 months, so I’m trialling the next one properly

This drape is 6.1 metres and outside the spec, so the weight starts to catch it

Stay within the guidelines and it should work a lot better

Void curtains are usually motorised

In this case, the narrow span meant a 1500 wand stick worked well

It still gave the customer a convenient way to use them

That’s why I always need to see the space before recommending anything

Reach out if you want a solution that suits your home

Grand piano walls, Venetian plaster, and highline windows

The aim was always to complement the room, not compete with it

That oyster tone picks up the greys a lot better than the cream undertone

The roller blind sits back behind the sheer so the curtain stays the vocal piece

Nice when the colour match lands properly
