Pictured is an Early Ottoman Smoking Pipe found in Israel circa 1960 during the excavation of the foundations of a new building in Tel Aviv. (Only the stoneware portion was found) It dates to the very early 17th Century. As one can plainly see, it was found in two pieces & has been sympathetically and reversibly restored. The number on the base was its artifact number. At the time, artifacts such as this were not considered all that old, valuable or interesting so it was purchased from the excavation team for what I can only imagine was but a handful of shekles.
Now it is representative of one of the new directions adding to our current curated range. Very soon there will be a new, specialty cabinet in store with a whole range of rare & exotic objects from the time not long after "Pre-history" right up to what we would call the "Modern Era" (Circa 1700) at what are relatively very reasonable prices (as with all of our objects).
Keep your eyes peeled for more sneak peaks at what will be there for the mini-launch.
