Google photos was at it again with some lovely throwback videos. This throwback is from 2023!! Three years ago I hosted a Star block sampler sew along - "Star Struck Quilt" sew-a-long. 18 blocks in 12 months, a combination of classic star blocks and some with a slight twist 😊 ⭐✨ There's nothing quite like a STAR quilt!

The blocks from the sew-a-long do fit together for a throw size quilt, or you can add a filler block (instructions on my website) for a twin size quilt. Individual blocks can also be made into fun smaller projects - table runners, wall hangings, cushion covers, maybe even a tote for the market! πŸ›οΈπŸ§΅πŸͺ‘

ALL the blocks from this sew-a-long are available on the website and in my Etsy shop. You can get them as a pattern bundle of three blocks, or bundle all the blocks together for a small discount.

Let's baste a quilt together 🩷 Typically I never record myself doing this part because I drag my feet so much while doing this. But I surprised myself how quickly I got it done knowing there was a camera on me.

I love to baste my quilts at the table. I've never been a fan of basting sprays and I feel that limits how and where I can baste my quilts efficiently. But that's okay because there are so many ways to do this! The most important thing to keep in mind is that the quilt sandwich is basted well enough that it won't move around when it's folded or being quilted. And that there are no folds in the backing fabric - because those will show up in the final quilt! Other than that it really is a personal preference.

Oh our dining table I can baste a throw size quilt without too much hassle, but anything larger than a twin or single bed quilt is not as easy.

This quilt is now quilted and ready for binding! It will be heading to my Vend Marketplace space a beautiful baby quilt in soft colours and fabrics. The perfect gift for a family with a new baby πŸ«ΆπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Friends, I have been procrastinating so much with the release of this baby quilt pattern! Somehow it has seemed bigger and more momentous than my other baby quilt patterns! If you've been here for a while, you would probably have picked up on how much I love making baby quilts and writing patterns for them. It makes me feel all kinds of warm and mushy 🫢🏾 Baby Quilt patterns are also typically my most popular patterns. And I love keeping them classic, simple and beginner friendly. Yet, somehow this pattern has got me feeling the pressure and stuck in the "procrastination-of-the-perfectionist" zone. πŸ™ƒ But, it's coming. A (second) deadline has been set. The countdown has begun.

Hopscotch Quilt Pattern. Releasing 21st May 2026 ❀️
FQ friendly. Comes together with minimal cutting and trimming. Bonus pattern for a matching cushion cover included.

Who was in charge of quality control for this product?!?!? πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

Well, this is the reality in our home. This bowl cozy is a bit extreme, but pretty much all the bowl cozies, fabric baskets, pouches, cushion covers, and even some quilts that we use at home aren't fully finished or will have loose threads hanging about. It's usually because of impatience or me testing a new pattern or project, and it didn't quite turn out right but the item in itself is still functional so we use it, but too much effort will be required to actually finish it so it looks pretty (which was what happened with this one) πŸ™ƒ

Also are noodles comfort food for anyone else when you're feeling under the weather?

Apparently I have "babies" on my brain πŸ™ƒ I have been busy making baby quilts because of my space at Vend Marketplace, and it is the cutest! This was one of the first ones I made specifically, and I do believe it is already on its way to a different home πŸ₯° 🐨

This is the Hopscotch baby quilt. I have since made two more hopscotch quilts, both more adorable than the next! Simple lines and straight cuts make this quilt super beginner friendly and a super fast make. It can be made with a FQ bundle + 1/4yd of a co-ordinating blender (or a 6FQ bundle, if those exist!).

Google photos is pretty amazing sometimes! The last couple of weeks have mostly been about setting up my space at Vend Marketplace and yes, quilting and sewing is sort of out of the limelight for the time being. But then these videos popped up in my memories from two years ago. This baby quilt is one of my favourites (I mean, all mine are "my favourites" lol, how are you supposed to pick?!?!?πŸ˜…). This is the Rainbow baby quilt. The pattern itself is amazing, beginner friendly and it does what every good baby quilt should do IMO - allows the maker to showcase the fabric!! I picked some lovely fabrics for this quilt. Honestly, she's such an amazing fabric artist/designer ❀️

The pattern features a simple sawtooth star, to add a little bit of *extra flair*, and lots of rows of fabric! The quilt lends itself to hand-quilting (which I find is so special in baby quilts!), so finishing it up is also not too difficult. What do you think? Is this a quilt you would make or buy?

PDF pattern available on my website, and in the Etsy shop, AND, drumroll please πŸ₯, printed versions available on my website, and in my Vend space. Yes, this is one of the few patterns, I now have available in printed form! Limited quantities though. ❀️🌈

I have so many thoughts as I'm making baby quilts! πŸ“’ on to hear some of my thoughts (or read the closed captions, as a mum I am usually on social media while one or both of my kids are asleep πŸ˜…πŸ™ˆ (TLDR version - I LOVE making baby quilts! ❀️)

Hopscotch baby quilt pattern, releasing soon (I don't quite have a release date yet πŸ™ƒ). Perfect for that cute FQ bundle you've been holding on to.

Bonus points to anyone who can guess what show I'm watching?!

Baby Quilts are my absolute favourite 🀍 A tradition that has emerged in my quilting journey is that after a a big pattern release, especially after sewing or finishing a large-ish quilt, I always feel the need to make a baby quilt. There's something about the simple beauty of a baby quilt. Simple patterns so the focus stays on the gorgeous fabrics, and the overall softness of it all. ❀️ I have a few go-to patterns that I love to revisit when I make baby quilts. Unfortunately this time I picked up an FQ bundle that was rather badly cut, so I needed to pivot. And I absolutely love the results!

So, surprise! A new quilt pattern is coming soon. The hopscotch Quilt is full of all the things that make baby quilts so very special. It's beginner friendly, comes together quickly, and showcases those adorable prints in the best way. You can absolutely put it together, quilt and bind it in a weekend (or one day if you're super dedicated).

This one uses exactly 6FQs or a FQbundle + co-ordinating solid. And as a bonus, you should be able to make a co-ordinating cushion cover to complement the baby quilt with the same fabrics! Nursery look βœ…

Stay tuned 🫢🏾

It's been a while since I added something to the grid! Time flies when you're taking a break ❣️ But we're back from our break now ☺️ And now that the fuss and busy-ness that comes with pattern releases has died down a bit, the moment seems completely appropriate to dedicate a post to a few amazing, super talented and very patient quilters who tested my pattern for me. I'll be honest, my patterns would be nowhere near as ready if it weren't for my lovely testers. They give me so much valuable insight and pick up errors that need correction before a pattern is release ready. They often respond to my panicked emails with so much grace and encouragement. I rely on them
Honestly, they are the best!

I have shared photos of these quilts before and you may have seen these on the quilters' pages as well, but it just felt right to share them again. If you haven't already done so, please do head over to their pages to show them some love 🫢🏾❀️ .quilts

Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that this is the team of quilters that worked with me on the Starlight Courtyard quilt pattern; it doesn't include all the pattern testers who have tested my patterns for me over the time that I have been doing this. I am so blessed to be part of such a beautiful community ❀️

Starlight Courtyard quilt pattern is available on my website and on Etsy.
