Did you guys know that snakes can eat food items that are over 5x the size of their own head?! 😱

A snakes bottom jaw is connected by stretchy ligaments, allowing them to open their mouth extremely wide. They do not dislocate their jaw in order to eat, they just have super adaptable biology that allows them to safely swallow a large food item whole!

This big Python was quite close to the balcony, and the homeowners weren’t keen on it meeting their dog! 🐍🐶

When pets are involved, we will always recommend relocation to prevent an altercation between the snake and the pet, which could injure either of the two! We have seen too many unfortunate circumstances to just say “no they’ll be fine” to a customer!

Let’s talk about HEAT SENSING PITS! 🐍

See those pits below the snakes mouth? They act like a biological thermal camera, allowing snakes to basically “see” heat in total darkness! The nerve endings in the pits will react to infrared radiation, sending a signal to the brain and helping the snake to seek out a prey item or a warm spot to bask!

Not all snakes have this! Just Pythons, Boas and Pit Vipers! 🐍
