In a strange turn of ageing (& turning into my Mama) events, I find myself grieving over the flowers that “expired” while we were away for a couple of weeks.
Once upon a time I would have shrugged it off & planned my next outing to purchase some new ones.
But these were my babies gosh dammit!
My dahlias & daisies, I’m so sorry.
I’ll never forget you.

p.s. I cut both right back in an attempt to save them.
Will it work? I dunno because as much as I want to be a flower farmer, I’m still such a newbie.

It might be a little sad when you no longer have “Santa” to consider because your kids are now adults & teenagers.
But it’s also a little bit glorious to simplify Christmas & not be overwhelmed. I admit, when my kids were little I found Christmas exhausting.
Fun? Yes! Magical? Of course. But also - it’s a lot!
By the time Boxing Day rolled around I was so cooked that I couldn’t wait to get all the decorations taken down & out of my sight.
This year feels different. I cut WAY back on the decorating, the money spent, even the amount of gifts under the tree.
Less is not only more, it’s bloody brilliant!
Merry Christmas from our simply decorated home to yours. Thank you for hanging with me this year & for helping me build my hand painted spoon empire!

Mid December, we’re starting to wind down. Kids have been on holidays for a week already & I’ve put them to work getting the house ready for Christmas.
