Oliver Mark Interiors

Oliver Mark Interiors Brisbane interior design studio, specialising in creating beautiful, classical, personalised homes. Lloyd Hodgkinson
OMI Principal Designer

I have always enjoyed being surrounded by collections, things that jog my memory and colours that make me feel comfortable. I think my appreciation for these immensely personal emotions give me a real understanding of their importance in a home. There is nothing I love more than being captured by a room that has its own presence. It is my goal to create homes that respect traditional design concep

ts yet reflect individualism. I truly believe the selection of quality fabrics and furniture will stand the test of time. I believe a beautiful home should have you lingering amongst a mix of existing pieces and specifically selected pieces, it should have colour and pattern but most importantly have warmth by layering dissimilar objects amongst family photographs and art. If it is one thing I want Oliver Mark Interiors to be known for it is ‘ego free and comfortable style’. The smile on the clients face when they see the finished result is all I need to see to know that I have done my job.

I’ve been a little quiet on Instagram these past few months. The truth is, it’s been a wildly busy start to the year, and I haven’t had much time for anything beyond focusing on what matters most - my client work.

I thought you might be interested to see a little of what I’ve been working on lately, along with a few things that are inspiring me, or simply reminding me how beautiful things can be, even when everything feels a little dark.

1: A recently decorated guest bedroom. Do keep an eye out - this project will be featured in an upcoming publication. Image: . Styling: .

2: On a recent visit to Sydney I was lucky enough to meet with from , who showed me the most delicious English chintzes from .

3: A timber fireplace mantel I designed, currently being constructed for an exciting project in collaboration with TMJ Architects and .

4: A lovely day with celebrating the publication of new book.

5: I’m deep diving on right now, having just purchased all five of his books. I can’t get this interior out of my mind.

A recently completed primary bedroom in beautiful soft colours from a project at New Farm. The custom-made rug was directly inspired by Mrs Mellons painted floor at her home in Antigua. You always learn from the best.

A recently completed media room from a project at New Farm. What this room lacks in size it makes up for in its feel of individuality and cosiness. It really all started with that fabulous painting my clients always owned. I always love having something to work up against.
The room has the most fabulous feel - like a little jewel box.

The living room from a recently completed project at New Farm. I kept the main upholstered pieces neutral and elegant, and added pattern and interest through the fabulously bonkers custom-made rug I designed.

I’ve always loved the addition of antiques in contemporary spaces. In my opinion they always add a much needed extra dimension and grounding. In this scenario I found a fabulous c1780 French fauteuil that I had upholstered in a beautiful cerulean blue polished cotton chintz with a slightly darker shade of contrast piping.

For as long as I can remember I’ve always been a stickler for details on soft furnishings.
It’s these often underestimated add-ons that add depth and character to a room.
Whether it be a pleated shade, bullion fringe, braid (why do one braid when you can do three?), fringe, bow, button, scallop or quilting - I’ll take them all.

Our cheery living room at home, crammed full of bits and pieces we’ve found along our way.
The suzani cushion we found at the Grand Bazaar in Instanbul, many years ago.
The delft vases on the brackets are 18th century and found on .

It’s all in the mix, don’t you think?

I am beyond thrilled to be featured in this month’s Home Beautiful magazine! This special story captures the heart of my 10-month decorating journey in a much-loved Toowoomba home — a space where colour, pattern, and personality bloom in every room. The relationship that I formed with my client Deb, was in fact life changing.

Thank you to the team at , specifically to Julia who has written a brilliant story.

Special mention to my husband for peeling all those mandarins and not complaining once.

Thank you to my creative team and – they are the reason this shoot looks so damn beautiful.

Finaly, thank you to dear Deb. I miss you.
