I fell in love with this unique oak Art Deco sideboard... until I got it home and discovered half the original Bakelite handle backings and decorative end caps were missing! šŸ˜±

Original replacements were virtually impossible to find, so I recreated the missing pieces by hand to keep the handles authentic. I think this beautiful piece deserved that extra effort.

Some pieces are worth every hour they take. This beautiful English oak extension table has been in my client's family for many years and deserved a second life. After rebuilding the damaged extension frame and revealing the most breathtaking oak grain hidden beneath years of wear, it was a joy to bring this stunning table back to its former glory and see it reunited with the sideboard it was meant to complement.

This beautiful Art Deco walnut sideboard certainly kept me busy! What looked like a straightforward restoration turned out to need two completely new rear legs and replacement backing plates for all five handles, as the original Bakelite had broken away. Thankfully, the stunning leadlight centre door survived intact, along with the gorgeous carved details around the mirror and frame.

A few more grey hairs later, it's back to its former glory and ready for many more decades of admiration. Another lovely piece rescued from the brink and saved for posterity.

I don't often get the opportunity to restore a wardrobe but this was part of a bedroom suite and my client wanted a cohesive style across all pieces. I could have done with a second pair of hands when reattaching the doors but I got there in the end.

This beautiful Art Deco hexagonal occasional table presented a restoration challenge that had me scratching my head for a while. A prominent bleached mark had developed on the surface, and despite trying several proven restoration techniques, the blemish stubbornly remained.

Furniture restoration is rarely a one-size-fits-all process. Even with experience, every piece has its own story and occasionally requires a degree of investigation and experimentation. In this case, it came down to one final technique which, fortunately, achieved the result I was after, eliminating the damage that threatened to overshadow it.

A beautiful Victorian jewellery box, sadly opened with a little too much enthusiasm, resulting in a fractured frame and lifted veneer. Fortunately, all of the original pieces were preserved, allowing me to carefully repair and restore it so it can be treasured and enjoyed once again.

Iā€™ve just finished restoring a beautiful 1930s chest of drawers, and this one was a real labour of love.

The front features stunning marquetry, and while it would originally have had a mirror (sadly long gone, leaving two cut-outs on the top), the piece still had incredible character worth saving.

Structurally, it needed new drawer runners, guides, and stopsā€”but the most satisfying part was repairing the damaged front corners. The veneer and underlying timber were in a bad way, so bringing those back to life took time, patience, and a bit of problem-solvingā€¦ exactly the kind of challenge I enjoy most.
