Well my time on Norfolk Island is coming to an end. I had lots of grand plans to dye heaps of yarn and fabric, but the weather had other plans. Definitely not good drying weather at the moment. I'm really pleased with the results of what I've managed to dye whilst here. My little shop will be well stocked with fresh colours of yarns and a decent selection of beautiful scarves in silk, wool and blends. So looking forward to showing you all these gorgeous things.

I fly home tomorrow and will be back instore on Thursday 4th June, unpacking these beauties. Just in time for winter.

The weather here on Norfolk has been pretty wet overall, especially today.
Great reason to get out the knitting needles and start a new project and new techniques.

A colourful collection of yarns that I've dyed here. The weather hasn't been the best for getting the yarns dry as it's taking days and days.

Still never tire of the views here.

The view from Rooty Hill overlooking Kingston and Quality Row.

A kingfisher in a Norfolk Island pine.

Stitching, Boro style.
Time to relax and slow down is what holidays are all about.

Looking out towards Emily Bay and Phillip Island late afternoon, Kingston.

A few more scarves waiting to reveal the prints from the Eucalypt.

What a lovely way to finish off the week. Coffee by the fire and we did get to have the charcuiterie board as well, mmmm

One never tire of the beauty and the views on Norfolk Island.

Here's some before, during and after shots of just some of my botanical dyeing. This time on wool and wool and silk scarves.

These two scarves were both steamed and just look at the gorgeous prints that I got!

Do you like what you see?

I'll be steaming some more today and adding some different foliage. Nature never disappoints.

The weather is pretty wet and windy today, so much so the flights in wete cancelled until tomorrow.

Good news is, the ship has come in. This one is from New Zealand. It's cargo, apart from food stuffs, is building materials and vehicles.

I'll be popping down to the pier tomorrow to get a good look at the unloading which is quite a process.

On the craft side of things, I started and finished a small sashiko sample and am onto the lace pattern of a scarf that I started on Tuesday. Will keep you updated on the progress.

Another beautiful view, this time from Captain Cooks lookout at sunset.

Playing with cold water dyes. Overdyeing the gorgeous grey Gotland yarn. It takes up the dyes so well.

Here's a couple of merino skeins dyed with cold water dyes as well.

Lastly, eucalyptus dyed sock yarn.

Tomorrows forecast is for rain and of course more dye pots.

What a lovely surprise it was to see a horse drawn carriage on our travels today.

It's a lovely walk down the board walk to Bumboras Beach. There was one other person and their dog there. Such a beautiful spot.

We even drove past some sheep! These ones looked to be dorpas which a self sheading and are mainly bred for their meat.

Lastly, here's some cotton yarn and cotton voile scarves dyed with madder. The colour was a lot softer than I'd hoped, but still beautiful. I'll most likely overdye the scarves with indigo.

It's raining again tonight. No wonder everywhere is so green.

Another glorious view. Cows really do have right of way. Here's a few of them just strolling down the centre of the road, minding their own business, in no hurry at all.

Wild Things opened on Thursday after being closed since 2019, before covid.
A very popular destination for families and tourists alike. The rainforest walk was beautiful. Everything is just so green.

Tomorrow I'll be hitting the dye pots. Due to the fact I didn't bring a decent size pot with me, I've had to make do with two smaller ones. The batches that I dye here are a lot smaller than normal, but that adds to the uniqueness of them.

Love the weather, especially since the nights are getting cooler.

My little shop is closed today as the main shop isn't open 😕

All is not lost . I always have heaps of things to do and going out for lunch is one of them. You guessed where, of course.

In case you missed yesterday's reel, here's some gift ideas for Mother's Day. Yarn bowls, both timber and also 3D printed ones. Grab some unique yarn to go with them. Pictured are botanically dyed sock yarn and 8ply Alpaca yarn as well as Aloaca yarn where the animals live in Maleny! Their fleece was sent to Victoria gir processing into yarn which I am very fortunate to stock.

If you're after Australian grown and processed fibres and yarn, come and see what I have in store. I guarantee that you won't find this yarn anywhere else.
