Meanjin based multidisciplinary artist, Bella Cameron, also known as ColourPuff Girl, has been exploring fibre arts for five years. In the short amount of time Bella has been crocheting she has made her mark in the wearable art community taking the supreme title at the Australian Wearable arts festival in 2023 and 2024. Coming off back to back wins she has already made custom wearables for Alok Menon and has grand plans to take over the world with her outrageous crochet. Bella believes so deeply that crochet can be anything you dream it to be! Learn from her, how she channels colour, engineering and whimsy into iconic crochet wearable art.
In this two part workshop series learn how to make ColourPuff Girl’s iconic Crochet Cowboy Hat! This is the most worn hat that ColourPuff Girl has made to date! To make this iconic crochet cowboy hat we start by going back to the humble granny square. Bella will teach you her favourite square and swatches she likes to use for cowboy hats! Not only will you learn the swatches and squares but Bella will also teach you how to assemble the cowboy hat and mould it with starches / glue.

Class #1 - Learn how to make the squares and triangles for the cowboy hat! There will also be a demonstration on how to start joining the cowboy hat together.
Class #2 - More demonstrations on joining the hat together and starching the cowboy hat to help keep its shape over time.
