The worst styling advice? “Just buy what’s trending.”

No thank you. 🤦‍♀️

Trends can inspire you… but blindly following them usually creates homes that feel disconnected fast.

The homes that age well are the ones built around:

✨timeless foundations
✨personality
✨warmth
✨functionality
✨cohesion

Your home should feel like YOU — not like a copy of the internet.

It’s not the sofa.
It’s not the paint colour.
It’s not the latest trend.

It’s understanding how you actually live in the space.

Because styling that looks good but doesn’t function? You’ll resent it within weeks.

The homes that feel the best are the ones designed around:

* routines
* family life
* movement through the home
* storage needs
* personality
* comfort

That’s why I always ask so many questions before designing a space.

Your home should support your life, not create more stress.

Unique ways to make your home feel more YOU.

Not every home needs a full overhaul. Sometimes personality comes from:

🤍 collected pieces
🤍 family photos styled intentionally
🤍 meaningful art
🤍 layered textures
🤍 books you actually read
🤍 colours that suit YOUR energy
🤍 spaces designed # around your routines

The best homes don’t feel copied.
They feel lived in, personal and connected to the people inside them.

That’s the difference.

The only 2 types of styling decisions I use.

Every decision I make comes back to two things:

1. Does it function well?
2. Does it create feeling?

That’s it.

Because beautiful homes need both.

You can have:

😳 the prettiest lounge room ever… but if it doesn’t work for your family, it fails

OR

😳a super functional space… but if it feels cold and disconnected, you won’t enjoy it

The sweet spot is both. That’s always the goal.

If creating a home that feels finished feels confusing, here’s how to simplify it.

Most people don’t need more ideas.
They need a clearer vision.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is trying to make every room “special” on its own… without thinking about how the whole home flows together.

That’s why homes often feel:

* unfinished
* disconnected
* cluttered
* hard to style

The magic happens when you:
→ understand how you want the home to FEEL
→ create consistency in colours/materials
→ stop buying random pieces
→ style for your real lifestyle, not just Pinterest

A beautiful home isn’t built overnight. It’s built with intention, clarity and a plan that actually works for your life.

And honestly? That’s exactly why having a vision, mood boards and styling plans matter so much.

Today marks 8 years in business.

Honestly, I can’t quite believe I’ve made it here.

Business isn’t easy. It’s exciting, rewarding, stressful, fulfilling, and sometimes downright hard. Over the years I’ve learnt things about myself I never knew existed, and there have been plenty of moments where I’ve questioned everything.

But I’ve always loved what I do.

Sometimes people see the finished photos, the beautiful spaces and the end result. They don’t always see the work, the problem-solving, the risks, the late nights, or the heart behind it all.

What keeps me going is seeing the reaction from clients and agents when they walk into a space and truly connect with what’s been created. That feeling never gets old.

To every client, agent, follower, friend and family member who has supported me over the last 8 years—thank you.

It’s been a wild ride, and I’m incredibly grateful you’re part of it. 🤍

New project now on the market.

This charming Newmarket cottage was styled to celebrate everything people love about character homes — warmth, charm, texture and personality — while weaving in a modern edge to help buyers picture how beautifully this style of home can support everyday living.

We leaned into soft layered neutrals, warm timber tones, fresh textures and simple styling moments that allowed the home itself to shine without overwhelming its original features. From cosy bedrooms to relaxed living spaces, every room was designed to feel welcoming, calm and easy to connect with.

One of my favourite parts of styling homes like this is finding that balance between honouring the character while still making the spaces feel fresh, updated and relevant for modern buyers.

Because great property styling isn’t about filling a home with “stuff” — it’s about telling the right story the moment buyers walk through the door.

Creating a home takes time.

Looking back at our home from the day we bought it to now watching it hit the market… the transformation has been huge. But the truth is, it didn’t happen overnight. It took years.

Years of vision. Years of planning. Years of slowly bringing each space together in a way that felt right for our family, our lifestyle and the season of life we were in.

And honestly? This process was no different to how I work with my clients.

A beautiful home rarely comes from rushing decisions or copying what everyone else is doing online. It comes from understanding how you want your home to feel, how you need it to function and then layering it together intentionally over time.

While not every project will take years, having a clear vision, understanding what you truly need and following a process that gets you to the end in a confident and cohesive way is always a good idea.

That’s why I believe so deeply in my process.Because I’ve lived it myself.

Room by room. Project by project. Decision by decision.

Homes that truly feel personal, lived in and are created with care. Not overnight. I think that’s what makes them special in the end. ✨

Not to be dramatic… but I genuinely believe the right styling can change how you feel in a space.

Hi, I’m Lauren. The face behind The Ginger Stylist.

Interior stylist, property stylist, commercial stylist, business owner, mum, podcast host, creative brain and a very committed tea drinker.

I help people create spaces that feel stylish, practical and supportive of real life.
Whether that’s:
✨ a family home that finally functions properly
✨ a property styled strategically for sale
✨ or a business space that feels aligned with the brand behind it

Because great styling isn’t just about making something “look nice.”
It’s about creating connection, flow, feeling and purpose within a space.

I’m all about:
✨ homes that function for families
✨ spaces that still feel calm even when life is chaotic
✨ styling that reflects YOU
✨ creating emotional connection in homes for sale
✨ and helping businesses create spaces that support the way they work, create and show up

I’ve built this business from home during nap times, school runs, late nights and life in between. Over the years it’s grown into something so much bigger than “just styling.”

For me, this work is about helping people:
→ feel proud of their spaces
→ fall back in love with homes that aren’t working
→ present properties in a way buyers emotionally connect with
→ and create environments that support the life or business they’re building

Around here you’ll find:
• real homes & transformations
• behind the scenes of installs and styling projects
• property styling strategy
• commercial spaces with personality
• practical styling that actually make sense for real life
• business, motherhood & real life in between

And if I’m quiet… I’m probably sourcing cushions, moving furniture, recording a podcast episode or reheating the same cup of tea for the third time.

If you’re new here — tell me: Tea drinker or coffee person?

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make?Ignoring the spaces in their home that aren’t actually working for them.

Not because they don’t care…But because they think creating a styled home means adding more pressure, more rules, more “perfect”.

But styling should support your real life — not become another thing sitting on your to-do list.

I recently worked with a family whose kids LOVE Lego, building, creating and imaginative play.The challenge? Their play naturally overflowed into the main lounge room… which was also meant to be their family hang out space.

Open plan living can quickly start to feel chaotic when a room is trying to do too many things without intention behind it.

So instead of fighting against how they actually lived, we styled the space to support it.

We created zones that still felt cohesive and beautiful, but worked for everyday family life:→ practical storage that blended into the styling→ space for creating without it visually taking over the room→ layered textures and styling so the lounge still felt calm and inviting→ a layout that made it easy to reset the space without stress

And the result?The room finally started working WITH the family instead of against them.

Because maintaining a styled home shouldn’t feel exhausting.When a space is designed around how you truly live, it actually becomes easier to keep functional, calm and enjoyable.

A beautiful home and a lived-in home can absolutely exist together. That’s the sweet spot I’ll always aim for.
