In love with my new library find: The Florist’s Manual, published in 1833 by Hermon Bourne, one of the earliest American horticultural guidebooks written for the general public and casual flower cultivators.
Bourne wrote the manual to bridge the gap between technical science and everyday gardening, making vegetable physiology and systematic botany understandable for lay readers. It combines practical flower cultivation advice with the classification, folklore and poetic interpretation of garden flowers. 🌱
