Lava Living is run by Kirsten Bailey from her studio in Brisbane where she creates Shibori designed & Indigo dyed natural textiles for home & body.

Kirsty is a designer and maker of hand-crafted home and fashion accessories, and has specialized in Shibori Technique & Indigo Dyeing since 2015. New Year ▶️ New Directions.
Times are rapidly changing and the urge to break from routines of a past era & change up the rhythm feels more meaningful than ever. Shifts in your lifestyle can act as catalysts for creative exploration.
Having hand dyed and photographed thousands of Shibori Textiles for the past 10 years I'm excited to offer a collection of these designs in a new mediums. Suddenly it feels like the right thing to do.
With the help of the brilliant Japanese artist and graphic designer I've been working on transforming some of the most interesting images to create a collection of digital art files. These will soon be ready for you to order and print in a size and medium of your choice, be it art paper to frame, or on canvas. L

We have resumed shipping to the USA thanks to partnering with as a reliable, automated solution to handle duties and taxes. With tariffs changing fast Zonos calculates the total cost at checkout, and collects it upfront, so the shopper has no unexpected fees.
We still have some beautiful hand dyed pieces in the shop at half price ready to shop, so check the Australia Post website for Christmas cut-off dates. Plenty of time to ship within Australia, however standard shipping to the US cuts off 11/12. Express to the US 15/12.

Sustainable and tracable Australian supply chain with cotton grown in St George QLD by and produced by Brisbane technologist of . The super breathable cotton etamine is similar to a lightweight linen weave which is just so comfortable to wear. The 'Mookaite' Design featured is created using an Itajime Shibori resist technique, then ice dyed in a selection of fibre reactive dyes in colours inspired by the mookaite stone indigenous to the Australian outback.

Five of each of these Indigo dyed linen Shibori table runners are on their way to Japan for a wedding later this month. I feel so honoured for my hand dyed work to be chosen for the union of love between two people and really look forward to seeing some images of the event. 🥂 💙

This is an apology to all of my buyers and collectors in America. 🙏
Australia Post has just announced that they have joined a number of International postal operators to temporarily suspend partial postal services the the USA & Puerto Rico immediately until further notice.
This decision has been made to comply with the new US customs and border protection (CBP) requirements, specifically for duties and taxes to be pre-paid on all shipments prior to arrival in the US.
Wine, food, cosmetics, sustainable clothing and gift products will be among the hardest hit.
Small creative businesses such as mine have been upturned with no warning. 95% of my orders are from the US. I for one have just had to cancel two orders, apologise and give a full refund to two buyers of goods I hand dyed.
So thanks to the pathological lyer and sexual predator in the whitehouse for your "beautiful tarrifs" 🤡
and sorry to all the other Australian businesses that will been impacted.
