A polished project photograph tells you what a workplace looks like. But behind every completed project is a long list of decisions.

It doesn't show the weeks of planning, coordination and problem-solving that made it possible. That's where the real work happens.

More space isn't always the answer.

When a space starts feeling cramped or inefficient, the instinct can be to look for more space. But sometimes the opportunity is already there.

Reconsidering lighting, storage, collaboration spaces, furniture arrangement and underutilised areas can reveal surprising ways to make an existing space look much bigger.

We know that a good fitout design isn't about filling every square metre, it's about giving every square metre a purpose.

Wondering what your existing workplace could become? Reach out to us.

Behind every completed project of ours is a carefully coordinated process involving timelines, trades, suppliers, documentation, site conditions, budgets and countless moving parts.

Keeping these elements aligned with our clients helps minimise surprises and keeps the our projects progressing towards its intended outcome.

We are a team that understands not only how a space should look, but how to get it built.

Acoustic performance isn't simply about putting a panel on the wall.

Room proportions, ceiling treatments, floor finishes, furniture, glazing and the overall layout can all influence how sound behaves within a workplace.

Planning these elements together allows acoustic solutions to become part of the design from the beginning, rather than something added once noise becomes a problem.

That's why we prefer to consider sound as part of the design conversation, rather than trying to fix it once everything else is finished.

If your workplace sounds busy even when it isn't, it may be time to look at the space differently. Reach out to our team.

A visitor walks in. They notice the reception desk, where they're directed to wait, what they can see from the entry, even how the space sounds.

None of that happens by accident.

A reception has to welcome people, certainly. But it also needs to accommodate day-to-day traffic, provide the right amount of privacy, and represent the character of your business.

It's one of those areas where the smallest decisions can have an outsized effect.

Thinking about what your workplace says before anyone says a word? We'd be happy to help.

Celebrating 50 Years
In July 1976, John Humber purchased an existing business from Reg Gilpin and established what became Thriftway Furniture.
Initially, the business specialised in domestic furniture, floor coverings and window furnishings. Over the years, it continued to grow and evolve. Between 1990 and 1993, the second generation of the Humber family joined the company, helping to develop three distinct divisions: window furnishings retail, window furnishings manufacturing and office furniture.
The manufacturing division evolved into Norfolk Blinds, which remains in the Humber family today. The retail window furnishings business was later sold to Aspire Curtains successfully owned by Andrea Morley, while the office furniture division continued to expand and eventually became Ascot Commercial.
From its beginnings as a small retail business in Cattley Street, Burnie, Ascot Commercial has grown into a leading office design and fit-out company with offices across three states. Today, approximately 90% of our business comes from outside Tasmania.
Now, as we celebrate 50 years, three members of the third generation are part of the Ascot Commercial management team, continuing the family’s tradition and helping guide the business into the future. See less

A successful workplace refurbishment is not just about updating finishes, it's also about creating environments while maintaining consistency across every location.

Currently undergoing its own transformation, this project includes a new reception, meeting rooms and boardroom, upgraded amenities, a modern kitchen and tea point, acoustic wall treatments, and new workstations designed to support collaboration and everyday productivity.

We're looking forward to sharing more as the new space continues to take shape.
