"NGELAWANG"

Ngelawang is a traditional Balinese ritual in which a group of children or teenagers parade a costumed Barong (a mythical guardian spirit) from door to door throughout the village, accompanied by live gamelan music. Derived from the word “lawang,” meaning “door,” the ritual is believed to ward off negative forces, protect homes, and bring blessings to the community.

Ngelawang is closely associated with major Hindu ceremonies such as Galungan and Kuningan, where it serves not only as a spiritual practice but also as a joyful community celebration.
