Matching up to an existing subfloor can be difficult. Different widths, lengths, colours and patterns make it a tough decision to decide whether its to close, or not close enough. Few challenges, brand new cusrom 2 pack kitchen meaning ultra careful. Pull up a little bit of existing tile underlay, unfortunatly built on and screwed down with security lock screws. I had the right drill bit but its filled with tile glue anyway. Imagine your brand new kitchen caked in this much silicone, all the way down to the tile underlay. This is very hard to remove, normally i run into this on skirting boards and there an easy fix should the be scraped, not so easy with 2 pack. This was completed with extreme care and took alot longer than i anticipated. Nothing noticeable at the end, thank you dear Jesus. Tounge and groove original boards loose, screwed into place, and the floor was well out requiring hardboard/ply, grinded till i could do more then bulk filled a few times followed by a grind. They say you can't skim coat over timber, sometimes you just have to and the product is new and designed for this application. Ardex MRf moisture resistant feather did the trick and stood up to the stand up grinder afterwoods, so my intuition is thats its 100% going to stand up to normal everyday movement and traffic. The rest was easy started in the middle so the different widths would be gradual, and even going out to both sides and the rest is history. This product was on special and supplied and installed with hardboard and prep for $88m² inc gst.
